Tony Snow: A Vote For Lamont Is A Vote For Another 9/11
Tony Snow: A Vote For Lamont Is A Vote For Another 9/11

At a press briefing moments ago, Tony Snow claimed that last night’s Connecticut Senate primary gave voters the chance to answer the question, “Do you take the war on terror seriously?” Snow said that Connecticut voters who backed Ned Lamont (and the 57 percent of Americans who support his position on Iraq) were choosing to “ignore the difficulties and walk away.” That is the same approach, he said, that led Osama bin Laden to the conclusion “that Americans were weak and wouldn’t stay the course and that led to September 11th.”

3. Tony Snow is whack.
I was watching that press briefing:

Tony Snow: "This is a defining moment for the Democratic Party."

That's a very extreme way of spinning it. Only the most extreme, rabid Bush hangers-on are buying into that kind of crap, but it's all they've got, so I'm sure we haven't heard the last of that rather sickening mantra.

11. 9/11 happened on Bush's watch.
Some of us haven't forgotten what Richard Clarke and others have said about just how well Bush listened in early 2001 to warnings of an impending attack. Nice try, Snowball, but supporting a war (What's the latest reason they say we went there again?) in a country that did not attack us leading to the deaths of thousands of civilians and young Americans alike does not make one tough on anything. Bush got us into another Vietnam and it's time to get out.

64. After just three months in office JFK took full responsibility for the...
... Bay of Pigs disaster. Something he inherited from non other than Richard Milhouse Nixon. Ask any freepturd who is responsible for 9-11 and they'll likely finger Clinton.

Kennedy fired the incompetents within his administration most responsible for the failure of the invasion whereas Bush promoted the idiots who twiddled their thumbs whilst the country came under attack.

You can't help but think that Bush was in fact rewarding his bozo underlings for a job well done!

democrats ought to be making a stink about the possibility that the bush apostasy may be dreaming about doing just that.

It's ridiculous the lengths to which they're trying to go to SCARE people away from change.

Seeing as how bin Laden attacked BEFORE the Iraq war, I don't think we can claim that the Iraq war prevented anything. And even though too many people still think that Iraq was somehow responsible for 9/11, more people are waking up and seeing that the war is turning into a fiasco. They're just dragging out the old 9/11 bogeyman again to try to scare us all back into line. I hope it doesn't work.

55. weakness?
WTF!!!!!

I think the most obscene act of weakness from the United States in the last 60 years was invading a country that had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11, in retaliation for 9/11.

It showed how fearful and moronic the USA is that we would support such a cretinous strategy.

Fortunately, it seems like our citizenry is starting to wake up to the fact that we invaded Iraq for bogus irrational reasons. In fact, we're starting to realize we went in mostly because of the severe psychological disorders of the neocon wing of the executive branch of the US government.

65. Checking the Memory Hole
From the TRANSCRIPT

There seems to be two approaches, and in the Connecticut race, one of the approaches is ignore the difficulties and walk away. Now, when the United States walked away, in the opinion of the Osama bin Laden in 1991, bin Laden drew from that the conclusion that Americans were weak and wouldn’t stay the course and that led to September 11th.

If my memory serves me correctly Poppy Bush was president in 1991. So, what exactly is Tony "Yellow" Snow saying?
Is he blaming Mad king Boy George's father?

I suppose with the close relationship to the bin Laden's, it's no wonder they aren't concerned about hunting him down. That would be bad for their business interests.

March 2002 Press Conference: Q But don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive?

THE PRESIDENT: Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him.

71. "Falling dominoes" redux.
Anybody remember the "Falling dominoes" we were threatened with if we didn't back the slaughter in SE Asia? Vietnam, then Laos, then Cambodia, then Thailand, Burma, Indonesia, India, until the next Dominoe was San Diego?

They never learn.

74. What?!
I'm not a big Lamont fan, but stuff like this makes me angry. Just because Lamont is liberal, Dummy Snow makes out like it's dangerous to elect him.

77. Awful surprising, ain't it...
When one, ONE candidate who is against the war, wins a PRIMARY in the more heavily anti-war party, in a supposed democracy where SIXTY PERCENT of people oppose the war.

Right.

Osama bin Laden is a social psychologist who spends his time measuring and studying the "resolve" of the "American people." His successes have had nothing to do with studying holes in our security systems--no. It was our readily demonstrable lack of moral fiber that led him to conclude he could attack us.

Yup.

Now, to atone for our effeminate ways, we can all go save Private Ryan in a remake of World War II where the enemies are easily identifiable by their brown skin and big noses and the purpose of the war is not homeland defense but national character-building.

Hooray.
