Lamont is one damn smart guy! Tweety interviewing him now!
No matter what question Tweety throws at him, or how crazy it is, he doesn't hesitate, or stutter, he has an instant answer for every one, and they're good answers!

I am not from CT, so I heven't heard him speak much. I can see why he won!

1. He was SO impressive -- and Tweety is now in love
He was actually gushing all over him at the end.

5. Gushing at the end? Too bad he didn't find out something about him
*BEFORE* getting so upset at his candidacy!!

I mean, isn't that a foundation of journalism???

10. That probobaly won't last with Tweety, but I also watched Tweety
interview NEd in CT yesterday while the voting was going on. Ned was just as good and extremely calm and sure of himself!

After that interview, Tweety said "That guy sure doesn't seem like a newcommer to politics. He was so calm, and when I talked to Joe, he was concerned and you could see and hear it!"

Good going Ned! Even though I'm from Ga., I just might send you a couple of bucks!

13. Tweety is such a romantic. He's got to have a man-crush going on all the
time. GWB just broke his heart, and he is just so over Tom DeLay. He's sniffing some Democratic turnaround on the wind, so he's gonna need new arm candy!

2. Didn't Tweety close with "I can't support you, but..."
What a bizarre thing to say.

"I can't support you but I'm glad there are guys like you shaking things up because too many people think they own their seats?" Something like that? Did I really hear that?

11. He cannot support him because he is supposed to be "objective" and
"neutral." But that was letting him know he would otherwise.

23. and, of course, Mr. Objective was on Leno
saying that he hoped Guiliani was our next President.

but that doesn't mean he will spend the next two years praising Rudy and trashing Democratic hopefuls. :sarcasm:

12. No, I don't think that's what he said. He said something like
I'll probably get in trouble for saying something like this, but I'm really glad there are people like you running...."

Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 04:35 PM by lyonn
even Tweety had something good to say to him at the end that he respected him for challenging an opponent that was a strong candidate, type comment. Lamont gave Great answers to All questions that were Thrown at him. What a guy!!

And yes, Tweety did say he couldn't vote for him. Not sure how he meant that.

Edited for a bit more clarity.

18. Tweety most likely said that because he doesn't live
in Ct and is not eligible to vote for Lamont.

4. Lamont just said something that made me realize
why the establishment is opposed to Lamont........he is taking no PAC money. No one owns him.

14. Don't they all say that at the beginning?
Because the PAC's aren't donating to unknown underdogs in tiny states.

But they will try to NOW. That is the test for Ned.

I went there to be anti-Joe and left there being totally pro-Ned. I see big things in his future!
This guy is really something.

Wow, I was in a room with at least two DUers and didn't know it. (well, I figured there would be at least a few of us there... I just went spontaneously, since I worked downtown at the time)

And, to be honest, while he had some good things to say, I liked him but did not love him. He has certainly improved, however.

7. Ned Lamont was very, very impressive on MSNBC...
I also now understand better how he won. He has a great affable personality and doesn't dodge questions. He answers directly but manages to very skillfully move his answers to the message he wants to make to the listener. He in rapid fire delivery, laid out the case for his positions on the issues and why he should be elected in November.

And to my Southern ears, if you close your eyes, it sounds like John F. Kennedy is talking.

But there's something that reminds me vaguely of John F. Kennedy. I can't put my finger on it. I wish I could.

9. Same here - knew his name but would not be able to pick him out in a crowd
I was VERY impressed. I see why he won. Makes "Joe won't go - home" look like a blubbering idiot.

CT will be lucky to have him, and of course we all win by having a true Democrat in the Senate.

17. Lamont for VP in 08
I'm impressed. He's a straight-shooter and smooth, but not in a smarmy way. He's the breath of fresh air we need in our political landscape. He's someone I won't hesitate to support with a campaign contribution.
