Damn activist judges--not wanting people to die and all
Judge Upholds PUC Ruling
The Texas Public Utility Commission voted to restrict electric providers from cutting power to some needy customers during the heat spell. An Electric provider who specializes in providing power to the needy asked a judge to reverse the decision but instead the district judge upheld the rule. Dallas-based Freedom Power complained the rule could put it out of business.

Amazing that these vultures would want to cut anyone's electricity off during this heatwave.

Sounds like that's code-talk for corpo-fascist Repubs, just like "Left behind" (as in no-child-left-behind) is code-talk for the rabid fundie Xtians.

Anyway, how many customers and how much money are they talking about here anyway (the short little blurb doesn't say). I find it difficult to believe that working out some sort of "arrangement" would really put a power company out of business. Utility companies don't cut things that close to the edge. It would just be cruel to cut off customers during a serious heatwave.

Glad that the judge upheld the rule and wouldn't allow those customers be cut-off. Let's watch and see if "Freedom Power" actually has to go out of business because of this (I truly doubt it).
