Surplus Police Equipment Heading To Iraqi Officers

Some surplus police equipment no longer needed by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department will be shipped to the Middle East for use by Iraqi police officers, officials announced.

Rather than destroy the equipment, the department is giving it to Operation Soldier and their Brotherhood of the Badge program.

"With all the used gear in America, there is no reason that a cop in Iraq should be without a bulletproof vest or police safety gear," Operation Soldier founder John Bush said in a prepared statement.

The items -- which include body armor vests, gun holsters, ammunition pouches and duty belts -- will be delivered to the American military, which will then distribute it to trained police.

1. Nothing wrong with recycling
and it might keep a couple of dollars out of Haliburton's hands. Better than it being destroyed if it still has some life left in it.

since rummy won't supply them

3. These body armor vests are not Pentagon property all together
....I pray these soldier better be careful given away private property.
