Feingold hosting fundraiser for Sensenbrenner challenger Bryan Kennedy
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 12:10 PM by undeterred
This event is tonight in Milwaukee, WI. 6:00pm, Wednesday, August 9th.
Barrow & Juarez Gallery
207 E. Buffalo St. Suite 14, Lower Level
Historic Third Ward, Milwaukee

Bryan Kennedy is in his second race against Sensenbrenner - one of the richest politicians in Congress and one of the most powerful. He's been in this seat for 28 years, and has basically become a right-wing, corporate owned, Washington politician who cares nothing for his district. As chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, he has utterly failed to hold this adminstraion accountable for starting an illegal war, spying on citizens, you name it. He has stirred up bigotry with his harsh immigration stance. He takes more lobbyist paid trips than anyone else in the House, even though he is heir to the Kimberly-Clark fortune. He owns stock in Haliburton and Enron, so he's making out like a bandit from the high gas prices and the illegal war.

Kennedy is a college professor in Portuguese and Brazilian culture at UW Milwaukee. He is an intelligent, articulate, ethical person, and he is totally ready for this job. But this is a grassroots campaign, and winning will depend on what happens on the ground. We have a lot of rural areas to reach in order to bring out the vote. There are a bunch of DUers working on this campaign and we are all going to be there at this fundraiser tonight for Bryan.

It would be great to have all of DU there! But you can join us by giving a contribution, so if you can, please do!

1. Just another example

The deeper the right takes our nation into the shitter, the more likely good people will rise up and run for office to straighten this shit out.

It is happening all over the place....talented, smart, and caring people are getting engaged. They see what the PNACers are giving us and they are scared. Instead of doing nothing, they choose to get involved and make a change...the legacy of Paul Wellstone if you will.

2. Sensenbrenner is the one who has blocked every effort made to hold
Bush accountable. He is the one who has rendered Conyers powerless despite his never-ending efforts. He has to go.
