3. He seems to be doing everything he can now to make excuses ..
for why he lost, he is also trying to pit dems against each other so that his buddies on the right can win, some Dems will take the bait.

15. I don't know but ..
the republicons will be working now to do everything possible to pit the dems against the dems so that they will take votes away from Lamont in the general election. They will probably try to put up a stronger repug so that they can win. If the dems vote for Leiberman then the vote will be split thus a repug will take the seat.

20. I'm not sure they can put up another Repub, can they?
I guess they could as an independent, but I assume the Repub primary was yesterday as well.

I'd expect them to quietly support Lieberman financially just to cause a split.

2. Oh good. I'll be waiting for him to call into Sean Hannity and
reproach the republicans for such a sin.

4. So, he wants to eliminate political parties?
Otherwise, of course, you're going to have partisan politics.

6. Then he should resign. He is supposed to be partisan.
He was elected as a Democrat. Since he doesn't want to be one, he should step down. NOW!

7. Sure, Joe...
... what this country really, really needs is two Republican parties, huh? That'll put a stop to the polarization, fer sure.

9. what's up with Joe
is he just your classic unrealistic narcissist who can't concede defeat (ever) or are there other factors at work here? He seems far too invested in his chosen role as bridge between two parties, under the guise of being a "uniter." His willingness to waltz with Rethuglicans just smacks of the worst kind of political ass-kissing.

Anyway I find his blase response to the Lamont win puzzling. He seems to really think he'll win in November.

Maybe there's something I'm not getting?

11. He wants to remove the illusion of a 2 party system?
Can't have that, Lieberman, the voters aren't ready for the truth yet.

Kang and Kodos must wear their disguises a little longer.

Because when their true identities are revealed,
people all over America will be on their feet,
saluting and shouting:
"Oh no, space aliens! Don't eat me!
I have a wife and kids.
... Eat them!"

19. He's somewhere between denial and bargaining in the
grieving process. He honestly expected himself to be a shoe-in this election cycle. He just can believe this happened to him, especially after all the years of schmoozing he did.
