The Return of "McCarthyism"
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 09:17 AM by sparosnare
Yeah, that's gonna be the repug's and corporate media's new battle cry - that the Democratic Party has been hijacked by the leftists and they've dragged the party back to the days of McCarthyism.

"Those who want peace at any cost"

This is how the 'evil' Democrats who voted for Lamont were described this morning on CNN - and I heard echoes of it on MSNBC too.

Well, if that's how they wanna play it, I say go for it. I welcome a fight between those of us who are against aggressive wars and occupation and the warmongers who have been in control for the past 5 years.

I'd say the truth is finally coming around. It's been a long time coming.

1. The TEA is in the HARBOR.
The battle lines have been drawn, and it's time to take a side.

And FUCK any Democrat who listens to that nonsense: THE WAR is the fault and policy of our POLITICAL ENEMIES, and it is time that the party woke up to it.

5. Of course they can, they're special that way.
I have resigned myself to the fact that Lamont will not get a fair shake from the media after the coverage I saw last night and this morning. Character assassination is their specialty.

8. Hell, you say "livable wages" and you're a Communist ...
you say "affordable health care" and you're a "Socialist" ...

They say "Kill all the ..." and "throw them into concentration camps" and "... are betraying the country" and they're just upstanding Americans ...

9. Women to the right......Men to the left...grab a bar of soap......
.....cannonfire :

There over 800 prison camps in the United States, all fully operational and ready to receive prisoners. They are all staffed and even surrounded by full-time guards, but they are all empty. These camps are to be operated by FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) should Martial Law need to be implemented in the United States and all it would take is a presidential signature on a proclamation and the attorney general's signature on a warrant to which a list of names is attached.

3. Sticks and stones.......
The nasty neo-cons can keep their spewing up, but the people that care have spoken! It is time to return this country to the sane side again. The traitors are just afraid their control of this country is starting to slip and some of them might find themselves behind bars. Let the Constitution protect us and not Bush......I feel a powerful wave building. Surf is up.

6. Return??? I never thought it went away!
The right-wing agenda continued to strangle this country by hook and by crook. By feigning a victim's stance, they threw, and continue to throw, accusations of "liberal" and "politically correct" around like confetti. They got started in Gulf War I with the nonsense about opposing the war equals opposing the troops. Today, if you desire peace, you're a cut-and-runner or supporter of the terrorists.

Same show, different actors.

7. That's what I don't get.
They have somehow managed to equate being against war and wanting peace with terrorists and treason. Makes me crazy.

14. After reading Orwell's "1984" many moons ago, I've come to expect it.
That's why I sometimes refer to them as "Consoviets."

12. Faulty analogy, since Joe McCarthy was a Republican Senator.
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 10:09 AM by Divernan
McCarthy was not known as one who wanted peace at any cost. To the contrary he attacked people by smearing them as being soft on America's "enemies", i.e. Communists.
The "peace at any cost" approach is credited to Neville Chamberlain, British PM, prior to WW II.
