I am glad Joe Lieberman is leaving the Democratic Party
and I hope he takes the rest of the DLC with him.

We will all be better off in the long run.

2. but he is not leaving the party
according to his campaign manager in an interview last night. He will remain a dem but will be running as a "petioning candidate". He is trying to slice this baby fairly thin. He doesn't want to officially change his registration, so he will remain a dem.

This is one slimy move on his part. We need to get the high ranking dems (not the dlc because they are probably loving this just the same) to step up and openly support Lamont, or there will be issues nationally. We will have Zell Miller Dems in the South and Joe Lieberman Dems in the North and they will cause such havoc in the party that the repubs will remain in office ... possibly even gain ground. Lieberman must be stopped.

There is a great divide where their campaign war chests are concerned. Lamont needs some national love in the form of donation if he is going to mount a campaign to beat him. After all, it's Lieberman that will be getting all the free press now, isn't it? Novelty is his friend and our enemy.

5. Clinton and Bayh have already come out for Lamont
We'll see where folks shake out by the end of the day.

7. You may be right
in that in his own mind, Joe is not able to process the message he got last night. He is similar to a fellow who got served with divorce papers after being caught having an affair with his neocon lover. He is insisting that he is still married and that his spouse still loves him. Joe may not be able to admit that his marriage is over, but it is. The voters are on a honeymoon with Lamont as we speak.

8. I think by November
Joe is going to make Katherine Harris look rational. Desperation has pushed him off the deep end.

3. I wish he would
quit talking about himself as being a "JFK democrat." He is no closer to JFK than Dan Quayle was.

4. Dan Quayle couldn't even spell JFK!
Good analogy!

9. I don't think he's leaving and I don't think Bill Clitnon is going either
And the Party will be shattered if we purge the DLCers.

10. We will purge no one
We will chose an acceptable candidate and if the DLC doesn't like it they can hold their nose and vote for the progressive or leave of their own free will. We will just no longer consider them the wise all knowing ones and basically ignore them. They will do the purging not us...

11. I think the Party will be a lot better off if they do go
A fair number of moderate Repugs will join them, splitting the Republican Party too. I'm sick of Repug Lites who call themselves Dems. It's time to make a choice. Apparently, Joe has made his and he is paying the price.
