The Establishment is going to 'Dean' Lamont...
I just have a bad feeling that the Establishment is going to bend over backwards to screw Lamont and keep the lapdog, yes-man, boy-toy in his seat.

The press won't give Ned the time of day.

The DLC will work to undermine him.

Its going to be nasty...

'Course Joe could put an end to all of this and NOT run. He could just wait for those big, juicy, consulting contract offers to come pouring in. He could probably be offered a seat on Halliburton's board.

3. They will do so...
... at their own peril. They already tried it and it didn't work for the primary. People are getting tired of the bullshit, this vote was about that as much as anything.

4. I respectfully disagree
I think this shows the establishment that they are indeed vulnuerable and the Lamont movement is just the proverbial tip of the iceberg of a much, much larger movement. They will be thinking they should either "get on the bus or get run over by it". :woohoo:

5. Let Gotta Go whine to the decider for a cabinet post
He's his bestest friend, there's always an opening in the coalition of the willing in
the Bush bubble. What about the cabinet post of the guy fired for stealing at Target, did
they fill that?

6. Matthews et al. will try to spin this as McGovern Redux: "Support
Lamont and Co. at your electoral peril, Democrats."

The "people" of, for, and by whom this government exists DO NOT MATTER.

7. The DLC has a huge problem...they must actually make a choice.
Rather than simply doing their traditional triangulating on the right, there is now on the horizon a position on the left. Now it's time to go left or right or give up on triangulation altogether.

The choice is theirs but it is going to be interesting to watch. I have the feeling that the rip in the fabric of the Democratic Party is gonna go right through the DLC.

8. Don't underestimate Ned
he does very well on camera and in interviews.

The other day on NPR, Lieberman had called in and Neil Conan (?) cut him off to switch over to Ned Lamont. You could tell he was enjoying talking to Lamont a lot more then he was with Lieberman.

10. I agree about the media. Hell they are already at it. But....
I think the DNC is to smart to try that crap once the voters have spoken.

11. Liebermann Remains The Story
And ya know...I like it that way. Hopefully Ned is getting the first good night's sleep he's had in months and is looking toward November...this election is over, the voters have spoken and now there's a general election to win. Who gives a shit what the corporate media says.

I think members of the DLC are doing a lot of soul searching this morning...and the more that Liebermann spouts Rovian talking points and shitting on the Connecticut party, it's forcing his "friends" to choose sides. Seeing Evan Bayh already has stuck with the party...as so has Hillary...doesn't make things look good for Joementum. I suspect Senator Kerry will come out, if he hasn't already, to really support Ned now.

What last night did was put a big nail in the DLC's coffin as they can't "machine" a win for their candidates and their power with the "rank and file" Democrats eroded greatly with this loss. Their "beltway" style has run its course as a new generation of younger, frustrated voters are moving into the party and the older ones are tired of having their asses handed to them in every election. But at least the lobbyist money will still be rolling in.

I didn't expect the corporate media to give Lamont the credit he deserved as they covered this race from Liebermann's perspective...but with all the distrust of the media, that may have hurt Joe, too. For many of us, we didn't wait for what the corporate media had to say about this election, we came here and other websites to get that info. The world is changing, last night just showed us how far we've come and how disconnected the beltway is.

It's gonna be quite a shocker come November...

12. I'm also betting that the Repugs replace their current nominee
with someone considerably stronger.

Here's a blurb from Democracy Now about the current Repug nominee, Alan Schlesinger:

<<snip>>
And then, thirdly, there's a question here of the Republican nominee. It's been reported that when the Republican nominee, Alan Schlesinger, was nominated at their convention, that the delegates made sheep-like bleeding noises, because he was a sacrificial lamb, in their views. He is as close to a nullity as you can possibly find in major party politics, a professional card counter who recently admitted that he had forged a what's called a “wompem card” at the Indian casinos that gets you free shrimp. He later had it disclosed that he had been sued by casinos on bad debts and that even though he was a professional card counter, he had never won. He has about 8% in the polls.
<</snip>>
