Why do these Dems support Lieberman?
Pres. Clinton, Lanny Davis, Chris Dodd and others. Why did they want Lieberman to win? Davis was on FOX just now saying that come Nov. the people will put Joe in office and that Lamont will come in maybe second. If this happens then we just gave the Cons another member in the Senate.

1. How could Davis possibly know what the people....
will do in November. I'm tired of these idiots going on Fox predicting what people will do. I'll bet they never thought the people would go for Lamont and look what happened.

31. look at Davis's book that he's peddling
sums it up for me. He treats us (online progressives) as the enemy instead of Republicans. They just can't take responsibility for losing touch with the word and blame the world instead of themselves.

2. Because Joe had and has a better chance to win statewide....
Because Joe had a long record of voting for liberal causes and nobody knows what Lamont stands for

Because moderate Democrats have an easier time winning....

Because it made sense to everyone but the far left not to fuck with a safe seat and concentrate instead on states where the Democrats could pick up seats

Because they wanted to keep the headlines aaying "The GOP is falling apart" instead of "the crazies have taken over the Democratic party."

There's five good reasons right there.

You're really out of touch with the main stream. Joe doesn't represent Democrats. He hasn't for quite sometime.

Joe has a better chance of winning state wide? Huh? Joe LOST state wide.

I suggest you take your 'crazies' and 'far left' talk and cram it.

18. Actually you listed four not five, but none-the-less I disagree
1. A long voting record doesn't mean much if you've abandoned the people you once represented. We shouldn't vote for something good that someone has done in the past--- people lose perspective, we need to vote for now, and what he's doing is not working.

2. Well, maybe if Joe was a moderate democrat he would have had an easier time winning. I find Chris Shays the more moderate CT politician (and I don't plan to vote for him either).

3. First off, this seat was an important seat--- it symbolized everything that was wrong with the democratic party and we turned that around. Also, it was a primary where we could focus our attention. With the GE coming up Joe has just sent a wave of inspiration to those against the war or the status quo-- they are not invincible and can be de-throned. I find this a perfect get out the vote inspiration.

4. Because they either have a long history and friendship which wanted to give him at least the primary before they let him go...... or they fear their own asses (or their buddies) because they can see many people angry with them for the same reasons they ousted Joe.

but, like the good Republican he is, Joe-hole won't play by the rules and accept his loss while graciously supporting the man chosen by the voters.

corporate establishment. I say that they ALL should go! But that's just me. They want Joe because they believe that he is part of the establishment.

Why is it so hard to understand that these politicians work for the people, NOT the other way around? None of them are entitled to their seats. They seem to think that they are!

It's the old-guard Democratic power structure and they're not prepared to pass it on to the next generation of Dems.

Lieberman's demise is the first real sign that we're going to change that, regardless of the DLC's wishes.

Trying to dumb yourself down?

Joe won't win in November and these Dems you list probably will not support him now that the primary is over.

If by some miracle Joe wins, he will caucus with the Dems, not the Republicans.

6. They can support anyone they want in the primary.
For many it was personal loyalty. Lieberman has been around for a long time, was the VP candidate, etc. etc. So he got some good old Joe support. I'm fine with the idiots who stood with him 'till yesterday. It is the fucktards who stand with him today who are going to really piss me off.

13. Keep watching for how many of Joe's "supporters" jump ship
Why did they want him to win? Because he was a three-term senator. A powerful resource for "your" side ("you" here meaning Dem bigwig, not really the rest of us).

But now Joe's lost and Ned's the new rising star. Plain old-fashioned politics is for them to plaster big smiles on their faces, pretend they were for Ned all along, and for Ned to let them pretend.

It's between now and November when we'll separate the mere politicians from the true DINOs.

14. Who they supported before the primary is a moot point
Here's the thing, there was a chance that Lieberman COULD win (it was a 4pt loss - so definately not a blow out there). And if everyone abandoned Joe before the primary ESPECIALLY his co-workers in the Senate then there was a risk that if Joe won he could abandon the party (and not not suck up to Bush but to switch to the "R" and align with the republicans, which would hurt us even more.

So it was no sweat for them to give him an endorsement pre-primary. But afterwards they all need to get on board and with Evan Bayh, a fellow DLCer, endorsing Lamont then I would suspect that even more will jump on ship

Therefore, we cannot allow the media, the corporate establishment in Congress, or the Rethugs allow us to believe that Joe running Indy is going to hurt Dems. No one has flirted with the idea that those who supported Joe in the beginning might be turned off by his Indie run, thus either (1) staying home on election day; or (2) jumping ship and voting for Lamont. There are still many party loyalists out there who put party before individuals. I am glad to see DLCers, even like Bayh and Biden stay true to the party faithful.

Again, Joe seems to think that he is entitled to a seat in Congress. The CT voters have already spoken: NO ONE IS ENTITLED TO ANYTHING!!

22. I just posted that the DSCC is on board with Lamont
Who people endorsed before the primaries is of no concern to me. Joe Lieberman was a democrat and a longtime friend of many of the people who endorsed him before the primaries.

But now that it's overwith, everyone who has the "D" next to their name needs to endorse Ned Lamont as the candidate. The DSCC has done so and everyone else needs to fall in line

17. because they are afraid of their own ass and their buddies
This election showed that we will not accept the status quo............. they think they can persuade people not to see the importance of this election.

Well some anyway. I bet Clinton and Dodd leave Lieberman's side.

Also, the news keeps referring to all the independents in CT. Most of those Independents are liberal leaning (I was in a whole office with that crowd yesterday) They don't like being affiliated with a party. Many think that the Independent label somehow equals a conservative democrat-- it doesn't (plus conservative democrat in CT usually means they are fiscally conservative, we are not a hawkish state)

I also have some insight into the local Republican party as my father-in-law is on the Puke town committee. They are going to put an effort forward to really help their candidate. At first he was pissed that he heard Republicans saying that they might support Joe (he likes him too), but when they realized that Joementum fishes more out of their pool then ours they put a plan in effect to really stand behind their candidate (in bodies and money--- and they have a lot of the latter).

Joementum will not become a voice of the middle..... he will still be the guy in New Hampshire in 04' claiming a three way tie when he was in forth place.
