The truth is (and there is no denying this): Lamont would win vs. Repub.
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 10:53 PM by Finnfan
IF Lieberman respected the will of Democratic voters.

Schlesinger (the Repub) has possible legal problems and NO support among Republicans.

If Lieberman dropped out and respected CT Democratic voters, LAMONT WINS IN A WALK.

1. Write Lieberman
(not that he'd listen), but I did. Write Dodd. Write your Congressional Representative. Party leaders in our state need to hear from CT Democrats strongly on this issue.

2. I will!

But I'll do it tomorrow. I should have been in bed ten minutes ago.

4. If I were a Republican, I would have voted for Lamont.
There have been all kinds of hints that Lieberman would run as an indie if he lost the primary.

I also heard that there were a lot of voters switching party affiliation in order to vote in this primary.

For lack of a better name, how about calling it a stirpies split. Having a Dem and a former Dem on the ballot against a Republican almost guarantees the Dem votes will be split between Ned and Joe; and the Republican gets all of the Republican votes. So what percentage of the registered voters in Connecticut are registered as Dems and what percentage are registered as Republicans?

If the percentage of registered Republicans is greater than 33%, say good bye to that Senate seat.

Big Dawg won in '92 partly because Perot ran. He knows what it is like to have his opponents share the Republican vote. He should be the one to tell Joe not to do it to the Dems.

Joe, you can become a senior statesman. Don't be a Zell. You can't win, you can only be a spoiler. You have a really good retirement package that you will use whether you run or not. Winters in Florida are much nicer than winters in DC. Give it up, Joe. Support your party's candidate. If you had won, he would have supported you. It is what is best for the country.

9. I was talking about the primary, not the general election.
The republicans are probably celebrating the split within our party. It makes it easier for them when our vote is diluted between two candidates.

From what I heard after the primary, their vote may be diluted between the Republican and Joe.
If KKKarl has called to offer help, watch out for the dirty tricks. I guess the orders will be sent out along with the talking points on who the Republicans should support in this race.

I did read on another post, after I posted on this one, that the Connecticut Republicans would have had to switch affiliation months ago, so maybe they weren't that much of an influence in this race. We don't register by party in Virginia, we get to vote in either primary and we can vote in both primaries if they aren't held on the same day.

I agree with Skinner that Joe shows no loyalty to his party, so his party shouldn't show any loyalty to Joe. This is the man we ELECTED to the office of VP in 2000! This is the same man who should have been inaugurated a heartbeat away from the presidency. What he has done in this election reflects how he split from us in the Senate.

Now that this high visibility primary is over, our guy Jim Webb needs help against incumbant jerk George Felix Allen, jr.

8. Won't he probably win anyway?
How many Democrats are going to vote Lieberman if he goes indy and isn't he just as likely to split the republican vote, since their guy's a piece of shit?
