Well, I'm still not absolutely sure about the purging of Lieberman, but considering the fact that he's named as "the best Democrat" by RW commentators, he probably needs to go.

I just want to make sure that I'm not being a Democrat fundamentalist - "you gotta be loyal to your party or you're dead meat".

11. You can't claim to be of a party and run against it's nominee. That is
not an unreasonable demand.

Lieberman lost and conceded the primary. He IS "dead meat" as a Dem, as you put it, as much as he would like to posture and claim otherwise.

16. A primary is not a purge.
This is a democracy, and in a democracy, if you stop representing your constituents, you will eventually lose. Being an incumbent does not mean you have a right to a life long tenure. This is the US Senate, not the House of Lords.
