EDIT: I said SHARPTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 10:34 PM by Beausoir
My comment was about Sharpton....NOT about Reverend Jackson...NOT about Ms. Waters.

These are not interchangeable figures just because they are black.

Jesus people. Get a grip.

Al Sharpton is a loon.

34. This is a major test for Obama.
He can abide by the results of the election and call for Lieberman to quit the race or he can kiss my vote goodbye if he ever runs on a national ticket. Then again, if he supports a winning Lieberman run in November, I will almost certainly not be a Democrat by the time he gets on a national ticket (it won't be the only reason, but it will be a big one).

22. Tawana Brawley
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 10:28 PM by Nevernose
To most people in the US, this alone makes Al Sharpton literally Satan Incarnate. His own, personal Chappaquiddick.

Personally, although I think he made a mistake in the Brawley case, I agree with everything he's said or done since then.

Tawana Brawley lied and Sharpton believed her story. It was a mistake. 20 years ago maybe?

Maybe we should've kept sharpton in the kitchen with the help or something.

Figure out what the indention means next to the thread. I didn't bring up a racial stereotype. You started the thread with clear undertones, and your apparent buddy brought up Tawana Brawley.

Do you have any more questions for me, or is it time to get back to being angry because there was a man on stage who wasn't vetted by you?

He has supported many of our candidates and worked hard to do so. I can't imagine why you would object to him unless it's about race. Please don't bring up his past unless you are prepared to give equal time to the RW peccadilloes. I could start with Newt Gingrich who seems to be making appearances these days in support of candidates.

So is Jackson. Both of them campaigned for Kerry and were very well received on the campaign trail. They are VERY highly respected in the African American community. Good for you, Ned!!

Maxine Waters is standing to his left. I like Lamont even more now.

I was just saying to my husband that finally we will have a US Senator who speaks out against the war, like Feingold. So I am thrilled to see these 3 anti-war politicians up there on that stage with Lamont.

53. Shaprton and Stephen Pagnones
Sharpton never apologized to Stephen Pagnones for recklessly calling him a rapist in the Tawana Brawley case. I know that was a long time ago, but Pagnones was basically ruined over that whole episode. He won a judgment against Shaprton for slander. But Sharpton never apologized. Al's behavior during that episode was disgraceful. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes- but until he apologizes I will never support him.

I'm watching Lamon't speech, and Sharpton's fat head is in the middle of the screen.
