Bush & Condi Breaking Up? - "I've Never Seen Her So Angry"
Bush and Condi clash over Israel; president overrules her for the first time

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has become increasingly dismayed over President Bush's support for Israel to continue its war with Hezbollah.

State Department sources said Ms. Rice has been repeatedly stymied in her attempts to pressure Israel to end strikes against Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon. The sources said the secretary's trip to the Middle East last week was torpedoed by the Israeli air strike of a Lebanese village in which 25 people were killed.

"I've never seen her so angry," an aide said.

The U.S. response to the Israeli-Hezbollah war was said to have divided both the administration as well as the family of President George W. Bush. At the same time, it marked the first time since Ms. Rice became secretary of state that the president has overruled her.

12. Thank you for insulting Cicily Tyson, Harriet Tubman, & Miss Jane Pitman
Dr. Rice is simply not worthy of that comparison.

13. That occured to me too. It's Insight (Moonie) mag. They've been
letting out rumors that the hardcore neocons aren't that happy with Condi, claim she's been co-opted by evil State Dept. Dunno.

I do know that when Condi said "urgent ceasefire" it meant oh, in a few weeks...or months at this rate. Since she only has whatever power her husband, oops, boss gives her, I figure it's moot. Maybe she's pissed because he said she was wearing some ugly ass shoes....

14. HAH! It's hilarious (except for all the dead people). With Powell gone...
Once Colin Powell left the administration, someone had to take over the job of explaining what this administration was doing to the world's grown-ups. Powell was always the "big brother" of the troop of Li'l Rascals, sharing in their hijinx but still mature enough to know that they were screwing up and that he should be embarrassed when he goes overseas or to the UN and has to tell all the adults he represents them to what those zany adolescents are up to now.

Once Powell was gone, they had to appoint his replacement. As the "second oldest child" it fell to Rice to start trying to be semi-mature about the Bushkies' craptastic foreign policies. Forced to look grown up leaders of the world in the eye week after week, she's been forced by her position to start seeing the logic in saving lives and avoiding widespread warfare in the Middle East. To Bushniks, this is treachery of course. All of which can only make her more resentful of the situation the lead adolescent put her in.

"Dammit, Georgie, why do I have to be the one to tell the grown ups why we're still fucking around with the Israel-Hezbollah crisis?"
