2. Anymore reports about the machine problems I read about
this afternoon on DU? You know, little things, like McKinney's name not being on the ballot in some precincts. :sarcasm:

5. AJC story on this
http://www.ajc.com/metro/content/shared-blogs/ajc/elections/entries/2006/08/08/mckinney_allege.html

Shortly after the polls opened on Tuesday, allegations of voting irregularities began appearing on U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney’s campaign Web site.

At 8:14 a.m., the first complaint appeared: “Less than an hour into voting, McKinney’s name is not on ballot, opponent’s is,” read an item on her blog.

Other similar allegations would follow throughout the day as 4th Congressional District voters decided whether to send McKinney back to Congress, or give the Democratic nomination to runoff opponent, Hank Johnson, a lawyer and former DeKalb County commissioner.

The McKinney Web site noted voting machines not working or mysteriously casting incorrect ballots, “insecure” voting equipment, police harassment, and poll workers refusing to hand out Democratic ballots.

12. I agree too.
I love her and donated to her when she ran again in 2004. She said things that needed to be said and for that I'll always love her.

9. I voted for her this morning.
but there was such a huge, concerted effort to get rid of her, that I'm doubtful that she'll survive. All my Republican neighbors who had Bush signs during the last general election, have Hank signs in their yards now. Of course, they won't vote for Hank in the mid-terms. They just wanted to get rid of Cynthia during the primary. They'll be back in the GOP fold tomorrow. They hate Cynthia. She dared to speak our, before anyone else, about investigating the prelude to 9-11. She's voted against the Iraq invasion. And now she's calling for Bush's impeachment.
Plus, she's female. Black. And very mouthy.
Can't have that.

16. the funny thing
is...both McKinney and Lieberman try to tell everyone that they are the "mainstream" of the party, and they are both losing. I guess when you ignore your own constituents this is what happens. I see these two as polar opposites, and it is funny they are in the same party. Joe is obedient to big oil and big insurance companies. He is also a war monger. With McKinney, everything is a racist conspiracy, she has aligned herself with fringe groups like ANSWER, and rails against corporations. It is just funny to me that two totally different people like this can be in one party. This highlights the problem of our two party system. I strongly believe the Dem party could be 3-4 minor parties easily. So many varying views, even on this board.

14. "Undermine the Party and you're Gone" is the message to Democratic
officeholders from the Democratic Primary voters.

Whether you are on the left (McKinney) or to the right(Lieberman)of the Party, embarrass us or stab us in the back and you are toast.

22. How has McKinney "undermined" the Party?
Just because she doesn't kiss AIPAC ass?
We need about 434 more of those in Congress and 100 more in the Senate.

25. Yes
AIPAC is more powerful than congress itself! No one can stand up to their might! As Cynthia's father said "the J-E-W-S made her lose" :eyes: . The Jewish conspiracy theories abound.

28. I was talking about the scuffle with the cops and that crap.
My point is that if she loses her primary then the argument that the far left is taking over doesn't really wash.

We will see if she loses or not. It isn't my district. The Dem voters there get to decide, just like in Conneticut.

If she does lose, when the Republicans start spewing their talking points that the far left is taking over the Democratic Party, one response can be to point out that McKinney lost too.

Can someone from the 4th district tell us anything about these counties and the make-up of the voters there? I know that a lot of pukes are going to vote for Johnson to throw the election. Which counties are more heavy with puke voters? TIA

A small bright spot. I noticed that the totals in Gwinnett have increased for McKinney.

Not sure how Republican the portion in this district are though. DeKalb is heavily Democratic.

29. Not from the 4th District, but I AM in Georgia.
DeKalb County is where most of McKinney's support is; it's also where most of the votes are. When the votes for DeKalb start coming in, those numbers could change rapidly. There are 600K people in DeKalb County, and it's solidly Democratic (and liberal) and largely African-American; it's where McKinney's base is. Gwinnett and Rockdale are non-factors in this race, unless it's close enough that they tip the balance.

24. Johnson is doing better than I expected..
but don't make any bets until we start getting results in from Dekalb County. That could still reverse everything in the fourth district.
