BEIRUT (AP) - Israeli gunboats shelled Lebanon's largest Palestinian refugee camp early Wednesday, killing at least one person and wounding three others, Lebanese and Palestinian officials said.

The shelling was the first time Israel attacked the camp since the fighting between the Jewish state and Hezbollah began more than four weeks ago.

Israeli gunboats fired two shells. One landed in the Ein el-Hilweh camp, located on the outskirts of the southern port city of Sidon, and the other slammed into the city's amusement park, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.

Red Cross: Israel violates Geneva Conventions

The president of the International Committee of the Red Cross accused Israel on Tuesday of violating the Geneva Conventions by preventing aid convoys from getting into areas targeted by Israeli airstrikes. The official, Jakob Kellenberger, demanded more access to civilians in southern Lebanon. He will meet with Israeli officials on Wednesday.

"By letting down leaflets you cannot get rid of your responsibilities under international humanitarian law," Kellenberger said, referring to warnings the Israeli military has issued before airstrikes...(more@link)

AN Israeli strike on the southern Lebanon Palestinian refugee camp of Ain Al Hilweh killed at least two people, medics said today.
It was the first time Israel has bombarded the Palestinian refugee camp, the largest in Lebanon and home to some 50,000 refugees, since the start of the four-week-old conflict.

The missiles targeted the area around the home of Colonel Munir Maqdah, a military chief of the Fatah movement in Lebanon, Palestinian sources said.

that even though my shameful Australian government (which I didn't vote for) back the Israelis and anyone else Bush wants them to back, I do not support their stance.

I think I am intelligent enough to see what is going on myself, and I feel that the US administration and the Israeli government is guilty of so many war crimes, there wouldn't be a court big enough to try them.

Hezbellah is only a terrorist organization because Israel and the US say it is. It is an organization formed by the citizens of Lebanon in 1982 to defend themselves against the likes of Israel. They would be referred to as freedom fighters if they were in South Africa in the 60's and 70's defending themselves against apartheid.

Because Bush and his buddies are providing Israel with the WMD's, this surely must add to Bush's tally of the amount of deaths, destruction and misery he is responsible for since he took office illegally.
