The missiles targeted the area around the home of Colonel Munir Maqdah, a military chief of the Fatah movement in Lebanon

Fatah seeks the phased destruction of Israel. I'd say one of its military leaders is a fair target.

Absolute nonsense. Fatah is the moderate Palestinian faction that lost to Hamas in the last election. Mohammad Abbas, the darling of the Bush administration for "reining in" Hamas, is a Fatah member.

52. What a disgusting and despicable post.
Knee-jerk and idiotic charges of racism do not address facts. Learn some facts if you're going to open your mouth with such ridiculous and offensive charges.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatah

Fatah (Arabic: فتح‎); a reverse acronym from the Arabic name Harakat al-Tahrir al-Watani al-Filastini (literally: "Palestinian National Liberation Movement") is a major secular Palestinian political party and the largest organization in the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), a generally secular multi-party confederation. In Palestinian politics it is on the center-left of the spectrum. It is mainly secular and nationalist although not predominantly socialist. However, Fatah seeks the destruction of Israel though a series of phases. Fatah made this change in 1974 after it realized it would not be able to defeat Israel at once.

Moderate, my ass.

11. I don't think you do this if you're even the...
...slightest bit concerned with international opinion---I think you do this with one aim, and that is to inflame the entire Arab world and draw them into it to justify rapid expansion of the conflict. The U.S. appears to be complicit, if not a participating partner, in this aim.

This is going to end badly.

15. Here's a link
http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,21985,20068146-5005961,00.html

AN Israeli strike on the southern Lebanon Palestinian refugee camp of Ain Al Hilweh killed at least two people, medics said today.
It was the first time Israel has bombarded the Palestinian refugee camp, the largest in Lebanon and home to some 50,000 refugees, since the start of the four-week-old conflict.

The missiles targeted the area around the home of Colonel Munir Maqdah, a military chief of the Fatah movement in Lebanon, Palestinian sources said.

If you're at war with a country, their military and government are fair game. Civilians are not.

25. I disagree.
A camp that large could easily give cover to a paramilitary organization, especially when the home of a Fatah general is located there.

You do know that Fatah is committed to the destruction of Israel, right?

42. I don't cheer for war.
But I do understand it when there is no other way to stop an unacceptable threat. Israel could not afford to wait for Hezbollah to get even more modern arms. Unpredictably inaccurate rockets by the thousands, full of ball bearings to enhance civilian death, aimed at Israeli communities is already too much.

47. The size of the camp ensures a more legitimate target?
Not to mention "Homes".
You know something, Palestinians have been held in refugee camps so damn long
--for many, they have no place else to go--
that, Yes, more permanent structures other than tents are built.
So what?

So as to your 'argument': Huh?

'Legitimate targets' don't like small camps or cities?

So a small camp wouldn't hold such a target because it's... small?

Hey! You know what? New York City is pretty darn big: I'll just bet there's at least one Al Quada operative there.

Let's nuke it! Using your compassionate reasoning, it's perfectly justified. :sarcasm:

35. Every day the case is more and more arguable that Syria and Iran...
...are the intended consumers of this slaughter in hopes of dragging them into a war with Israel which would automatically involve U.S. forces who will come to Israel's defense nomatter what.

The U.S. didn't "bite" a few months ago when Olmert went on his "Iran is a threat to all of Western Civilization" tour of Europe (and, IIRC, the U.S.) , but the U.S. can be dragged in if things get "broader".

That's a very concerning situation, and a likely one if the atrocities against Lebanese (or Palestinians on Lebanese territory) continue.
