There are two Democratic Parties, Begun the Democratic Civil War has...
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 04:34 PM by originalpckelly
Anyone else watching this on MSNBC? OMG! Howard Fineman had it right when he said it, this whole segment looked like Democrats vs. Republicans, not Democrats vs. Democrats.

:scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared: :scared:

1. Democrats need to unite ...
We will NEVER undo the damage the Chimp, his evil cabal and the theocrats have wrought unless we find our common ground and unite.

6. We will. Once we've chosen our candidates.
But, not a second before. That wouldn't be very democratic of us to allow our choices to be made by Party bosses for us, would it?

Are you listening Hillary?

10. Schumer And Reid May Not Agree With You
Get with the program, bucko! Schumer and Reid have refused to rule out the DSCC backing Lieberman even if he loses today's primary. Therefore it's your job to unite with them, rather than the Party's job to unite behind its members' choice.

(I'll bet that you're in favor of obeying the Constitution, too. Ha!)

13. They wouldn't dare!
They have to support the winner of the primary they have no alternative! How in the world can they justify doing otherwise? They can't, they wouldn't and they won't.

Do you have a credible link that I missed? I actually hope you don't, I will readily apologize if you can produce same.

15. Here It Is - The Glorious Quote
Schumer said that the DSCC "fully supports" Sen. Joe Lieberman in his primary bid, and he refused to rule out continuing that support if Lieberman were to run as an independent.

There were degrees of independence, Schumer said. "You can run as an independent, you can run as an independent Democrat who pledges to vote for Harry Reid as Majority Leader."

(from http://hotlineblog.nationaljournal.com/archives/2006/06/post_14.html)

I'll leave Reid as a Google exercise for you.

Why are we letting these scoundrels skate on this? I suppose that it's their party, not ours - as Gonzales tells Congress all the time, they'll take our vote as a suggestion.

FEH!

17. That's stale, old news.
I recall reading a few weeks ago that Schumer confirmed that the DSCC will support whichever candidate wins the Primary.

Nice try, Manny.

19. Quote Please?
First off, even if Schumer later retracted his stance, it would have been an awful threat to make. Just like Mel Gibson's recent incident, the cat would be out of the bag - despite the retraction, we'd know where Schumer's heart was.

However, Schumer's quote was pretty clear, and I've been looking for a retraction - and have not found one. Here's your opportunity to show me how old and stale I am - supply a quote for us all.

Link or slink...

DSCC endorses Ned Lamont

Statement from Senators Reid and Schumer
August 9, 2006
By: Phil Singer, DSCC

Democratic Leader Harry Reid and DSCC Chair Chuck Schumer issued the following joint statement today on the Connecticut Senate race:

“The Democratic voters of Connecticut have spoken and chosen Ned Lamont as their nominee. Both we and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) fully support Mr. Lamont’s candidacy. Congratulations to Ned on his victory and on a race well run.

“Joe Lieberman has been an effective Democratic Senator for Connecticut and for America. But the perception was that he was too close to George Bush and this election was, in many respects, a referendum on the President more than anything else. The results bode well for Democratic victories in November and our efforts to take the country in a new direction.”

7. Yes! After One Small Thing...
After we throw the Republicans out of our party, we can unite.

The Democrats have been united for years - behind traditional Republican principles - since 1995, perhaps before. Where did it get us? We lost the Presidency and both houses of Congress. Yeah, that worked well.

As Harry Truman said:

“Given the choice between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican, people will vote for the real Republican all the time”

Until Democrats become Democrats, we'll keep losing.

9. Unite in which way? Shall we all become moderates? That would
indeed make happy the hearts of the DINOs among us.

Common ground? How about agreeing on the principles that the party has stood for in the past 40 years?
How about getting some leaders who will fight for Progressive ideals?

I don't believe in that canard that says, "Oh, he/she is a Democrat, so just vote for him/her because all that matters is that we have a Democrat in that seat."

I happen to believe that we have several Republicans who are calling themselves Democrats, sitting in positions of leadership right now.

Why don't some of our more intelligent Dems set up some think tanks like the Republicans have?

8. Again I say what will they say when and if Chafee loses his primary?
will they finally admit that there is no room for a moderate in the Republican party? Nah...it's only the Democrats who have problems. We're far lefty's but never anything about the GOP being so far to the right that they are falling into the ocean.

12. I have great concern about this, it isn't only happening in our party.
What we are seeing is a sign of general political instability brought about by the death of a true democratic process. We are witnessing before our eyes the seeds of factionalism, and this nasty weed destroys nations.

16. The power of all
I have this dream of a Democratic party that is united by a belief in market place of ideas. The open debate of what people really think. This is one of those debates. We as Democrats are choosing who we want to lead our government. The debate should be passionate and center on ideas, not accusations. This is the dream that I have.

The right wing is united because they believe in fear. Fear that ideas, passions and freedom will destroy their culture. The culture they fight to protect does not really exist. We are a nation of many faiths, where liberty is a value and no voice is unwelcome.

Yes we fight with each other, but we will unite against people who want to use fear to quite our voices. This is my dream for the Democratic Party.

20. I'm not seeing a civil war
I'm seeing a profound degree of unity among the Democratic grassroots and, for that matter, independents and disaffected Republicans. And I'm not a Democrat.

That the unity is both against the Republicans and against a small element of the Democratic Party status quo which has been enabling the Republicans hardly makes it a "civil war".

24. Is that you Yoda?
Yes, the civil war has been enjoined. The fight for America has begun and my suspicion is it won't just be the democratic party but a splitting of the republican party as well.
