She won't be worth nearly as much as a lobbiest without her inside track so the odds are they will replace her and the Liebermens will be without both their huge salaries. They may soon get an idea of what normal Americans have to deal with on a day by day basis. No wonder he is so freaked out...

1. I agree.
Talked to a friend the other day and said much of the same. If he doesn't hold his seat...there's no need for her, is there?

6. Hill & Knowlton

Now Mr. Lieberman has long been known to cultivate the insurance and pharmaceutical industries, which provide jobs in his home state and contributions to his campaign fund. But he has literally been sleeping with one of their Washington representatives ever since his wife Hadassah joined Hill & Knowlton last year. The legendary lobbying and P.R. firm hired her as a “senior counselor” in its “health and pharmaceuticals practice.”

This news marked Mrs. Lieberman’s return to consulting after more than a decade of retirement. “I have had a life-long commitment to helping people gain better health care,” she said in the press release announcing her new job. “I am excited about the opportunity to work with the talented team at Hill & Knowlton to counsel a terrific stable of clients toward that same goal.”

It would be uplifting to imagine that Hill & Knowlton—after spending the past decade as a defendant in tobacco class-action lawsuits because of its role in propaganda disputing the deadly effects of smoking—is now devoted to improving everybody’s health. More likely, the firm remains devoted to improving the profits of its clientele, which has historically included Enron, the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, the Saudis, the Kuwaitis, American International Group and Boeing.

When a Senator’s wife works for one of the capital’s largest lobby shops—and others have—appearances tend to matter. In this case, something happened immediately that didn’t look very good.

for senators. he did graduate from yale law school and could have made much more in the private sector. let's leave the joe bashing on the issues.

7. The best thing about a Joe-nertia flame-out ...
is that we won't have to listen to that snivveling weasel in the 2008 Presidential campaign.

The guy has a monumental ego and is stupendously oblivious to all around him, but even Joe-nertia is not stipud enough to think he could run for Preznit after this.

10. he never would run for president
i think he's aware that thanks to certain attitudes which prevail on DU and stormfront, a jew could never be elected.

So very fresh and new.

24. But you said that people should alert on every post,
"an interesting way to gum up the works on DU is to press alert on every post...even remotely anti-semitic or anti-israel."

25. You said "certain attitudes which prevail on DU and stormfront"
prevail- to be prevalent or widely existing, generally accepted.

So attitudes like those on stormfront are generally accepted on DU?

In a nano-second. But I guess I am not representative of most of DU. Just my 2 cents.

12. Hill and Knowlton concocted the incubator story...
...during the first Gulf War. You remember that story, Iraqi soldiers were removing Kuwaiti babies from incubators in the hospital and leaving them to die. Only problem was it was made-up PR company bullshit designed to get 'Murikans all riled up so we would invade Iraq...

14. He lives in a very high-priced part of town.
He's probably already starting to save soda cans to help pay the rent after he loses.

Oh, wait...I hear the Sec of Defense position pays very well. And he'd be even closer to his lover-boy!

That is what I see coming. I think this indi stuff is all just a bunch of bullshit. I think he's already got his Sec of Defense gig lined up. Notice how the talk of Rummy resigning has ratcheted up again? His replacement is in the on-deck circle, just waiting for tonights election returns.

But I admit I don't really understand how the whole lobbying thing works. Maybe we should all send them condolence cards.

I don't like this sort of coziness between our "representatives" and lobbyists.

A lobbyist is really just a congressman that makes a lot more money.
