2. I wasn't pissed about Clinton
It is what it is. The first law in DC politics is Cover Thine Own Ass. A three-term incumbent gets taken down, and the herd gets jumpy.

Besides, Joe does have a good rating across the board when it comes to the environment, womens' rights, etc. I'd bet he and Cleland did a lot of work together.

4. I don't get much of a chance to follow up on Cleland...
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 10:01 AM by derby378
...but it's hard to fault Lieberman's longtime friends and comrades for supporting him. Just imagine Chuck Schumer talking to Lieberman and saying, "Joe, you know we've been through a lot together, and we'll stay friends for life. But politically, you're toast. I'm throwing in with Lamont." I can't see where that's gonna happen with the Clintons, Feinstein, or anyone else in that circle.

6. I would guess they are friends from when Max was in the Senate.
I won't hold it against Cleland.

I don't don't write people off that quick.

I don't really hold it against the Big Dog either.

This is just about Lieberman.

7. Politicians acting like politicians. *shrug*
Politicians aren't generally known for such things as honesty, ethics, or basic decency. To see them patting each other on the back despite their obvious indulgences in dishonesty, unethical behavior, and lack of decency, is to expected.

8. The "Good Democrat" thing bugs me from all of them.
The inference is that if you're not for Joe, you're not a Good Democrat. That's the problem with Joe though. He bashes Democrats at every opportunity.

Joe can disagree and vote however he believes best serves his constituents. Bully for him! But to go out over the airwaves trashing Democrats that serve up hard-earned money for campaigns supporting him and other Democrats is beyond the pale. The verbal finger-waving needed to stop long ago; he just sees it as another opportunity to promote himself.

10. Nothing sinister about that, xultar.
All these Joe supporters will certainly be supporting Lamont tomorrow. They will be the ones who will kill the Joementum by taking Lieberman aside and informing him, "Joe, if Ned wins, I'll be standing next to him. You need to find a way to stand with us for the good of the party. That's the way it works, Joe."

There is such thing as personal loyalty. I have ZERO to Joe, but that doesn't mean others are evil for supporting him.

13. Many lost their moral authority supporting Joe Bush
I am not so willing to trust them any more and am beginning to believe that we need another political choice in this country.

It's not just about the war. It is about Joe being more Bush than Bush.

15. I Agree
I've lost respect for certain Dem's who campaigned for Lieberbush. The trust just isn't there anymore for some of my favorite Dem's.

17. When Cleland comes forward
and tells the truth about what General Myers was doing hiding in his office while the 9-11 attack was in progress, or the real reasons why he quit the 9-11 Commission, then I will have some respect for the guy. Until then, he just another enabler.

20. Incumbents support incumbents
It's no big thing and no one really bases a vote on this sort of thing.

Now if they continue to support after Liebermann loses and runs as an independent...

will then they can get hammered for it.

21. The only people whose endorsements matter are the voters.
Lieberman has a lot of friends, but he made a horrible decision to throw in with the most corrupt regime in US history.

22. Are people equally pissed at McKinney threatening an indy run?
Of course not.

Outrage is not based on behavior but how it can be used to smash those we don't like, inconsistency and hypocrisy be damned. Its why we love politics!
