This is OUTRAGEOUS! "Katrina’s abandoned cars finally on the way out"
"New Orleans homeless still seeking shelter in empty cars, but not for long"

"...The Louisiana summer humidity makes his arthritis worse. "I slept in that van last night," he said, pointing, "so I could stretch out for my hip. I can't sleep in a small car like this," he said, waving at a nearby Honda Accord.

Landry slaps at a mosquito on his arm. He holds the bloody bug up on his forefinger.

"All night long. It's what I deal with all night long."

What will he do when the abandoned cars are taken away?

"I need some assistance, some assistance," said Landry, who has been waiting for a FEMA trailer since January. "That's what I need. Give me a trailer, and I'll go from there."

And it's getting worse.

I hope this American Nightmare is over soon.

2. There are trailers in a closed amusement park down there, locked
up. The feds won't let anyone in, but some folks flew over it and saw a bunch in there. WTF is that about?

5. The manufacturer has been paid. Nothing more need be done.
After all, once the profits from human suffering are realized, it's all over until the next round of exploitation.

Necroconservatives - profiteering from human suffering and death; a 3,000-year-old tradition.

3. Our Republican controlled government needs to be FIRED!
This is a disgrace. We're spending billions in other countries, and we have people right here in the United States - American citizens - who live in conditions as bad as or worse than people in the other countries. What happened to our responsibility to our very own citizens?

Every single one of our government officials should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to happen. I don't see how they can possibly appear on camera, joking, having a great time, when they have very obviously dropped the ball on their responsibilities.

They need to be sent home, and we need to get some new people in office WHO WILL DO THEIR JOBS FOR A CHANGE!

7. I'm not really surprised
more outraged than anything.

BTW, WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE in the MSM about this?

This should be standard stuff. A disaster happpens, our govt steps in and takes care of EVERYONE until they get back on their feet and rebuilds, wash - rinse - repeat.

Did I mention I was outraged about this?

6. This story is so sad.
i can't believe there are still vacant trailers just sitting there. I know it takes one step at a time but this is ridiculous. The MSNBC reporter that interviewed this homeless guy that has arthritis bad and can't get his medicine...did they try and help this guy out? Or did they just take the notes down and just leave?

10. Think about it..
trailers that get USED, require SERVICES... People who are flat broke cannot pay for those services, so the "authorities" prefer that they continue to live like stray cats.. scavenging for food, panhandling, begging bathroom use from the businesses that are open..

The authorities are using the "ignore them and they'll go away" strategy.. Once they actually step in and start helping them, the authorities are acknowledging that they exist.
