If a nation invades another nation by force and occupies it, that nation might get compared to Nazi Germany in the mid 20th century.
If a nation sets up ghettos for an occupied nation and treats its citizens as if they were less than human, humiliates them, imprisons them and tortures them with impunity, that nation shouldn't get all bent out of shape is some smart ass compares them to the Nazis.
Walk like a Nazi duck, get called a Nazi. The word Nazi is so flammable and explosive that we are often cautioned against even uttering it, as many consider it to be the ultimate insult, to use the word instantly renders your argument for using it moot.
The Nazis didn't invent cruelty and war lust, its as old as humanity, older than Rome, but they were a recent example of human cruelty that we can easily refer to, we saw them arise and fall and we witnessed what happens when we allow it to happen.
If I want to say that some of our soldiers are acting like Nazi stormtroopers, people get all bent out of shape at the very idea, and are insulted and outraged. The word pisses them off more than the reason for it's use. If a soldier shoots a child's mother and father and sister in the other room, then proceeds to rape and murder her too, that soldier can be called a Nazi storm trooper or worse.
If a national leader has a foreign policy that looks like Adolph Hitler's, then that national leader should not be insulted when someone calls him a fucking Nazi.
