Didn't that says something like that last September when Katrina hit the Louisiana coast?

2. I think technically the Gulf of Mexico is a basin,
which contains many individual fields. So even the GOM produces a lot of oil in total, the field in question (Prudhoe Bay) is the largest single field...

But many states have made drilling off their shores off-limits. You have to go into international waters in the path of all those damn hurricanes to get at the oil.
