Lieberman says Connecticut voters who oppose him have forgotten 9/11
How dare he.

Now Joe Lieberman is the only Democrat who apparently cares about national security. Just ask him.
Lieberman said that this race is about whether the Democratic Party “will accept a diversity of opinion” on national security. He defined himself as a Democrat in the mold of John F. Kennedy, Harry S Truman and Bill Clinton – that is, one with “a real socially progressive record, and strong on national security.”

He said a victory for Lamont will send a message to the country: “In the Democratic Party, there’s no room for strong-on-security Dems.” He said that would be disastrous for the Democrats. “You can’t win in this country,” he said, “unless you assure people" that you aren’t going to compromise on national security. He said he has backed the war on terror because he never forgets about the “radical Islamic terrorists who attacked us on 9/11 and want to do it again.”
Oh, so folks who are unhappy with Lieberman are soft on national security and don't remember September 11.

What a self-serving, selfish, egotistical piece of Republican trash this man has become. So Joe Lieberman is claiming that everything is going great in Iraq not because he's out of touch, not because he has a seemingly inquenchable desire to pander to George Bush and defend him at all costs. Oh no. Joe Lieberman says that Iraq is going great because HE remembers September 11 and YOU don't. Because he is strong on national defense and YOU aren't.

He's out of touch, and needs a new reality. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.

13. Lamont should be all over this...
...he should make it clear that it is Zell LIEberman who has forgotten 911, since the deaths of over 3,000 people have yet to be avenged. 911 has NOTHING to do with Iraq. Lamont should come right back at LIEberman about this distortion. He is desperate and has taken a page right out of the Rovian playbook.

Lamont needs to be fighting back HARD!!!!!!

but Lamont, now there's a Bobby Kennedy democrat. He is truly awesome and CT needs him, the country needs him. Lieberman will become a Republican, I'll bet my last dollar on it, because that's the only choice he'll have left. He truly is not fooling the intelligent CT voters, and they will show that they will not be insulted.

You know am a big tent party kinda guy. I was on the fence about him until he started slamming Lamont during the cspan debates. Joe this is what got you into trouble, it was more than your voting record. It was your constant pandering to the right wing and your continued use of right wing talking points that got you into trouble. The party didn't leave you Joe, you left the party.

29. I haven't seen Lamont on any national shows.....
...but plenty of them are talking about it!

Tonight on Hardball, there were 3 journalists on. 2 said Lieberman would lose and 1 said he wasn't going to make a prediction. One of the 2 who said Lieberman would lose was E J Dionne. And when the guy said he wouldn't make a prediction, Dionne said he thought he was being optimistic because every other journalist he has talked to has predicted a Lamont win.

I expect they will want to interview Lamont after he wins.........and I can't wait until tomorrow night!!

75. Freakish distrubing fringe?
Because it was all too convenient?
Because EVERYONE on the 9/11 Commission had a vested interest in seeing that the outcome of their report supported the "official" version?
Because steel doesn't melt at the temperatures ascribed to the jet fuel (which mostly burned outside the buildings upon impact) and the office materials that burned inside the buildings?
Because no other building of similar construction has crashed in its own footprint without the help of controlled-demolition dynamite sticks?
Because jets weren't immediately scrambled since there were convenient war games that day?
Because newspapers in other countries have interviewed and spoken with the so-called dead terrorists?

Honestly, you may believe the official conspiracy theory and that's your right, but you don't have to allege that those who don't are "freakish," "disturbing" or "fringe." Personally, I find it harder to believe a lot of the load of crap that the government sold us that day than some of the information put out by learned physics scholars and actual witnesses.

I'm not sure it was a right-wing plot, but I'm almost nearly positive that the right-wing government, who was warned - and we know they were warned - didn't do jack to stop it.

32. still parroting those right wing talking points
this election isn't about whether democrats will accept someone who cares about national security, it's about whether democrats will support someone who continues to echo right-wing rhetoric about those who oppose the war. Since 9/11--and especially since the iraq war started--lieberman has echoed the rw assertion that criticism of the president equates to hurting the war on terror and hurting america.

Democrats believe in national security. We can even (grudgingly) accept someone who has supported the iraq war (witness our last nominee for president). But someone who vocally supports the bullshit white house assertion that those who ain't with "him" are against america has no place in the democratic leadership.

44. A set-up to ensure that his replacement is a republican, eh?
Yeppers, he's going to run as a spoiler, and his big "point" is going to be how weak the Dems are on defense issues.

Then, when Lamont loses due to the 3-way split favoring the republican, Lieberman will be on all the talk shows spouting off about how he was a moderate, and couldn't stand aside while the "far left" tries to take over the Democratic party.

And he'll be paid fantastically well for being the next Zell Miller.

52. ....
HANNITY: Last question. If you ever want me to do anything, for you and your re-election, I think we ought to have Conservatives for Lieberman, a big fundraiser in Connecticut, and if I could ever do that, I'd make it the biggest blowout celebration ever.

LIEBERMAN: Thanks, pal. You're a great guy. It would just be fun to be with you. My wife, my daughters, my sons...

HANNITY: I don't know why they like me.

LIEBERMAN: You know, you're... well, you're a straight talker, that's one thing they like.

HANNITY: Alright, Senator.

LIEBERMAN: And you're a good to their... husband and father, so how could they not like you?

HANNITY: You're a great American, Senator.

LIEBERMAN: You too, pal.

HANNITY: Senator Lieberman. "Oh Hannity, you never like Democ..." Yes I do, I like Democrats. There's one good guy.

62. What? Did something happen on 9/11?
I must have missed it. :sarcasm:

Wow, maybe Joe really is a Republican. I won't be surprised if he makes it official. At least then he will be a very socially responsible Republican.

63. I'll never forget 9/11 - I lived through it personally in Manhattan..
but I also remember 1776 and 1789. There's more to this republic than security, and I don't see that he's done anything to protect the liberties for which our forefathers fought and died.

or avoided losing them. Kennedy was integral in defeating Communism. Truman finished WW2. Clinton helped put an end to an genocidal government in Europe. Democrats know more about succesfully securing the country than Republicans including Lieberman ever could hope to.

piece of Republican trash. He's just much more out in the open about it since his position was challenged by Lamont.
