300 pit bulls seized at Liberty County home
Authorities believe they were used in dogfighting ring

Authorities are seizing about 300 pit bull terriers from a suspected dogfighting ring based at a Liberty County residence where a fatal home invasion occurred last week.

Liberty County sheriff's deputies, Harris County Pct. 6 deputy constables and Houston Humane Society officials are at the site now at 2218 County Road 2252 in Cleveland.

The dogs, some left in outdoor kennels, are believed to have been bred for illegal dogfighting.

In the incident last week, Thomas Weigner, 27, bled to death after being shot in the leg, said Liberty County Sheriff Greg Arthur.

Weigner's wife, father-in-law and three children were tied up during the incident, but were not harmed, Arthur said.

If they've been fighting for a long time, they may need some serious counselling which I'm sure isn't an option with such large numbers; if it's even an option.

8. I have a Pit/Lab/Sharpe Mix with green eyes...

He is handsome, he is sweet, he loves cats, he lets puppys pull on his I try to educate people about my Max who is special needs he has a bad hip, hit by a car while a puppy and given up by the owner to the vet.

Stereotyping a breed is just as bad as stereotyping race....

Pit Bulls are animals that are high maintenance because they need a lot of attention from their owners. They need training and they need the proper discipline.

The people in this story should face felony charges...bad owners equal deadly dogs.

Would you have the same opinion if the dog breed were a Chihuahua? Small dogs report more dog bites than the big breeds. Don't get me wrong it the Pitt is bread to fight or is abused it will be dangerous and must be put down.

What a sweetie.

He and our Golden Retriever had a large time.

Great-looking dog, as I am sure yours is, as well.

10. They definitely are sweet with the right owners...

he loves to play....and lay in the sun....all the lady dogs like him thank goodness he is fixed....otherwise....we would have a lot of little Maxes running around :hi:
