"Yeah, thanks to the Democrats!"
There's a discussion on another message board I frequent (sports related, but with an off-topic/political forum) about the Democrats standing in the way of energy improvements. The basic response over there is: "Yeah, thanks to the Democrats standing in our way."

I've heard wacko righties do this before. They say the Democrats "won't let us" drill. The Democrats "won't let us" develop new energy initiatives. The Democrats "won't let us" do anything!

What exactly are the Democrats doing? We don't control the White House, Senate, House of Representatives, federal judiciary, majority of governorships, state legislatures, on and on...

One of my main beefs with the Democratic Party (in general) is that they've been too conciliatory toward the Repubs and *. Were it up to me, we'd be hitting them harder on almost every issue, at every point in every debate. So I just don't see how the party out of power isn't "letting" the party in power do anything.

And, funny, these right-wing jackoffs can never explain what they mean. I think this is just another example of the right-wing persecution complex.

1. poor understanding of how government works
I think people like that just have a crappy understanding of how our government works. They really don't comprehend that when one party controls both houses of Congress and the White House, the other party really has little say in how things go.

2. I see we think very much alike on this topic.
Here's one of my posts from that discussion:

We're witnessing this mind-numbed talk radio mentality right here in this thread. And the scary thing is that at least 50% of the American public agrees with them. That's what happens when nearly an entire voting base doesn't understand how the process works.

4. That almost never works.
In response, you get guffaws and "everybody knows that Democrats ..." arguments.
