Will we be able to force Cheney to turn over the energy policy names...
... if we take back the House in '06. You remember when Cheney had the super secret energy policy meeting that he refused to release the names of the attendees. Is there any way that we can get those names by gaining back the Legislative branch?

1. Don't really know, of course. But I doubt it. FOIA requests
were the last I heard of any attempt, they would be the best bet, but I don't know where it all went.

3. I know those all failed.
I thought that maybe with one branch of government behind us we might be able to apply a little more leverage.

2. Didn't the Court rule executive privilege?
Edited on Mon Aug-07-06 07:45 PM by acmejack
SCOTUS said it was, I am just about positive.

edit: Cheney vs. US District Court for the District of Columbia was the case

6. If the Dems can frame another argument, which they will,
they may be able to throw it back.

4. He won't let the transcripts out because he and his partners in crime...
...carved up Iraq in those meetings--obviously, long before 9-11, WMDs, or any other reasons for invading that country had been manufactured.

5. Just as * made all the files from his fathers WH tenure closed
to the public eye... A Democratic President can open those files....I wonder if there is a statute of limitations on these high crimes?

7. Subpoena the memos, if and when he refuses to release them
you take it to the supreme court arguing the duty of congressional ovesight, the separation of powers doctrine demands the release of the documents.

10. I want to see the policies. I want to see the attack against Afghanistan
that was planned waaaay before 9-11. I want to see the planned war against Iraq and the rerst of the PNAC doctrine brought to life, including 9-11, or the new Pearl Harbor. I want to see the domestic crime of destroying California's economy to put the fifth (6th?) largest economy into Republican hands.
