Poll question: Who's the WORST? Nixon or bush?
This in response to leftchick's earlier posting about Nixon's resignation.

3. Bush is guilty of just as much and probably a whole lot more.

Nixon at least had the good judgement to resign. This fool will take us all down into a dark abyss.

4. Bush is a thousand times worse
Nixon's crimes against democracy were piddling misdemeanors compared to the felonious assault on everything we hold dear that Bush has launched. Nixon certainly lied about his secret plan to end the war, but he didn't start the war. Sure, we were a little concerned that Nixon would declare martial law, but in the end, he didn't. He resigned.
Economically, he was a flaming liberal compared to almost anyone today.

10. I began to miss Nixon when Reagan took office.
Character flaws aside, there was never a question of competence with Nixon. And that brings up the question: which quality is more important in a president, character or competence?

With Dubya, it's a no-brainer, because he possesses neither quality. I don't know about Reagan. He never struck me as having any discernible character, except in that he was movie actor. Others' results may vary, though.

something worse, politically, than a Nixon presidency. And, the death toll in VietNam was numbing - we're talking tens of thousands of Americans - the abuse of power was astounding.

In political hindsight, little did we know...politically Bush is much worse.

19. Nixon= clean air act clean water act OSHA endangered species act
Highest minimum wage adjusted fro inflation in US history, tried to push universal health care until it got botched up in the tidal basin escapades of a conservative southern dem.

Nixon was a crook but he did pass a lot of progressive bills.
