THANK YOUR SENATORS FOR PRESERVING THE ESTATE TAXCall toll-free: 800-459-1887 (toll-free number available through Wednesday, August 9) To thank your Senators who voted NO last Thursday on the procedural vote on H.R. 5970, which would have slashed the estate tax by $750 billion over 10 years. Tell them:
Thank you for voting NO on H.R. 5790, the cynical ploy to slash the estate tax. Please continue to fight for a vote on a clean minimum wage. America’s lowest-income working families who have not had an increase in their wages since 1997 are long overdue for a raise.
To see how your Senators voted go to: http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=109&session=2&vote=00229 Look for more details in our Human Needs Report coming today.
The toll-free number is provided courtesy of the American Friends Service Committee, a Quaker organization whose work for social justice, peace, and humanitarian service includes campaigns for a moral budget and a fair minimum wage (www.afsc.org/economic-justice/). AFSC welcomes groups to circulate and use the toll-free number in support of non-partisan budget goals and without linking the alert to a website soliciting donations or actions which may be used to support partisan lobbying or work. ==============================================
