Does lieberman or any congressman or senator own the seat...
I am damn sick and tired of republicons and some dems running from talk show to talkshow trying to convince dems that they are wrong or that they don't have good sense. They seem to think that they own the seats and that we have to vote for who they tell us to vote for. The problem with the congress and senate is that they all have been there too long and there is not enough diversity and openess. They get too many perks and they practice cronisym and lieberman is angry as though voters have to vote for him. Can we vote ourselves raises, can we get the healthcare they and their families have, can we work just 79 days of a year.

1. Term Limits
I support that. Too many people get "comfortable" and don't want to get out. God forbid there's an election for your sorry ass. Terribly sorry this "democracy" thing gets in the way of your generous perks / pay.

For the most part, the Senate is like a special club where all the cool kids hang out.

3. Elections are, in a sense, term limits. And a regularly scheduled
review - at the ballot box - of Representatives and Senators. I don't favor undermining the election process - not by Lieberman or Constitutional amendment.

7. Not with House districts gerrymandered
like they are.

6. I agree Nutmegger
Eight or 12 years is plenty of time.

If he's a really good public official he can serve 25 years but help the House, the Senate and then make a really good Governor. Then he can help us even more by opening a business and hiring thousands of people.

I don't like these lifetime seats, especially if they're gerrymandered.

9. Some make excuses as though they need to hold the seat for ..
30 or 40 years. Others need to be given a chance so that more ideas can be realized.

2. A lot of those incumbents think that they were given a lifetime
appointment and are entitled to their seats. They love the perks and try to sidestep the responsibilities.

VOTE THEM OUT!!

4. The seat's bought and paid for, isn't it?
A lot of people would feel an attachment to a seat that they paid a lot of money for, money they had to work hard for. Begging for funds on this scale is a full time undertaking. After all that work and effort to get elected, and then raise money to stay elected, and win over the media, and win over your peers, and being a respected and great statesman who the other party treats like an honored dignitary, why wouldn't such a person feel like the seat is theirs, unless taken away by a bunch of moronic foolish ingrates? It must not seem fair.

8. They raised the money to win ....
If the seat is theirs , then why do we vote? Sounds like some employees or family members are on board making excuses

5. They forget who put them in office.
The people put them there and have the power and the right to get rid of them. Doesn't matter how long they've held the seat - that certainly doesn't give them some devine right to keep it for life. Lieberman no longer reflects the views of his constituents, so they are choosing to fire him (hopefully). It will be a shot heard across America and a wake-up call for other lazy, complacent Democrats who think they can coast. Will be the best thing to happen to our party, IMHO.

10. This is why he seems to be astonished that he can display his...
love for bush in our faces, when he knows how much we hate that dumb bastard. They have been leading him around like a puppy dog for years now and he even had the nerve to call himself scolding us and telling us we might as well follow his dumb ass leader. He was also astonished when he didn't win the primary in the Iowa caucuses, he was really angry.

11. Sensenbrenner has been in for 28 years
and he does nothing for his home district. I'm surprised he can find it.
