Arab league: French-US Draft Resolution is Discriminatory & Unacceptable
EXTRA: French-US draft resolution is "discriminatory": Arab League

Deutsche Press News
Published: 08/07/2006 11:33:09am

New York (dpa) - The League of Arab States criticized the much-
publicized French-US draft UN resolution on the Lebanon conflict
Monday as "discriminatory" and demanded major changes including a
ceasefire.

"The draft is discriminatory in tone, and we don't accept it,"
said Ambassador Yahya Mahmassani, the league's envoy to United
Nations headquarters in New York.

Mahmassani said that the UN Security Council should demand the
withdrawal of Israeli Defence Forces from Lebanon, a ceasefire, UN
control over the disputed Shebaa farms and the simultaneous release
of captured Israeli and Hezbollah soldiers.

"We are back to square one," he said.

3. Huh? Didn't you see the reports of
... Junior cutting his vacation short and rushing over to Beirut to confer with the foreign ministers of the Arab League? Or was that Condi? I forget.
