How long before They're Fighting Us Over HERE?
I assume a nation can only go around killing thousands of people in other nations for decades and get away with it for so long. bush always says the cute line about fighting them over there so we don't have to here, but how long will that situation last?

The way we are pissing people off and slaughtering people as if we were ancient Rome WILL come back around to our shores someday, if it hasn't already, as some think.

After the terror attack in New York, some folks asked, "Why do they hate us"? when just a little research of recent history will reveal the answer, people in the middle east hate us for some damn good reasons.

Supposedly nine eleven was a case of crazy Muslims with an insane and unjustified hatred of the U.S. attacking us on our soil. Sure, it hasn't happened again in 5 years, but look at the middle east and put two and two together and you get four.

Imagine another terror attack. Imagine lots of terror attacks. Are we safer? For real?

Anyone who has the stomach for it can look with their own eyeballs at the horrors going on over there, and the hatred that is surely building like a hurricane, what goes around will surely come back around.

1. I think sporadic attacks are not the same
as fighting us over here. Hopefully the FBI or whoever is doing an adequate job of finding the would-be terrorists. And hopefully after 2008, if not 2006, we can undo Bush's Middle East policies and the spying on American citizens.

In the meantime, I ain't gonna sit around waiting for terrorists to strike. I have a life that I need to live. :)

11. FBI Is NOT Doing Its Job!!
"Hopefully the FBI or whoever is doing an adequate job of finding the would-be terrorists"

What a fucking JOKE!

The FBI most certainly is NOT doing anything near an "adequate" job of finding would-be terrorists!

Until George Bush, Dick Cheney, Condoleeeeeeeeza Rice, and Donnie Rummysfield are in the deepest, darkest prison, the worst terrorists in the WORLD will still be on the loose!

2. I've said the same countless times...
and I seem to always get a response of something along the lines of "but the only thing they understand is violence". I to, feel much less safer nowadays. Less and less safe each day.

3. Simplicity rules.
If you have the stomach to listen to Bush's statements on a regular basis, you will notice it's patently obvious that he and his administration have no clear idea why "they hate us". Eithr that, or they *do* know, but don't want the Americal Public to know.

Example: he says the root cause of the problem in the Hezbollah/Israel conflict is... "Hezbollah".

Hezbollah was apparently created in a spontaneous cosmic event of hatred, and began waging war on everybody.

See, "root cause" means the *source* of an issue. "Ground Zero", if you will.

There's never any public analysis of the factors which cause groups like Hezbollah, the IRA, etc to come into existence in the first place.

Analysis might put Western (US) foreign policy in a bad light, so it's best to just not go there.

"Hezbollah".

"Osama Bin Laden"

"Saddam Hussein"

"North Korea"

"Gays"

"Anti-Lifers"

"Fidel Castro"

They are the root causes of all the evil and suffering in the world. They sort-of just appeared in a puff of smoke. Find something simple to represent evil, so "good" can be represented as an equally simple opposition.

Maybe God created them to test us.

To quote Pappy Bush: "What we are looking at here is Good versus Evil, Right versus Wrong."

See? It's simple!

Now stop asking so many questions. Sheesh.

6. there was never anything stopping them, then or now
really. The rest of the world has been dealing with terrorism in some form for quite a while. And even though we like to THINK we're relativelly immune, and that 9/11 was the FIRST attack, we know that's simply not true.

I do think there is more MOTIVATION now from muslim extremists to target us, but its not like we ever did anything to win their hearts and minds previously, either.

7. Yeah - but
They won't be using resources to attack the west when they are busy in the middle east.
The moderates have all been silenced in the region. And this Lebanon war may be the opening salvo of a broad middle eastern war--just what the neocons want. There might be sympathetic elements within the US that would do terror attacks--but I don't see foreigners doing the deed. They are busy enough.

Never forget that the neocons seek to remake the middle east. Winning or losing does not matter. Just starting the war is a war crime. Maybe Bush is right. This has become a war of civilizations. Can you imagine the entire middle east under the thumb of the Israeli's? I mean--they treat the palestinians so well.......

8. 2 billion muslims in the world.
If just .1% were sitting on the fence about joining militant organizations, and we pissed them off, that would be another 2 million terrorists to fight.

Another reason to not vote for people who can't do simple math.

12. I'm of the mind that big terror attacks
only happen if the govt powers-that-be want them to (of course they now have a bigger pool of potential terrorists to facilitate if the need arises).

Of course that doesn't rule out attacks on US property overseas or domestic terror caused by lone nutcases or flipped out Iraq combat vets.
