Oh, goody. Al-Qaida's new 'NUMBER 2 ' announces a branch in EGYPT!
Edited on Sun Aug-06-06 02:03 AM by Bluebear
Booga booga booga.

CAIRO, Egypt - Al-Qaida's No. 2 leader said in a new videotape aired Saturday that an Egyptian militant group has joined the terror network.

It was the first time that al-Qaida has announced a branch in Egypt, the Arab world's most populous nation. The Egyptian group, Gamaa Islamiya, is apparently a revived version of a militant group of the same name that waged a campaign of violence in Egypt during the 1990s but was crushed in a government crackdown.

"We announce to the Islamic nation the good news of the unification of a great faction of the knights of the Gamaa Islamiya ... with the al-Qaida group," Ayman al-Zawahri said in the videotape aired on the Al-Jazeera news network.

2. Hosni don't want no al Qaeda cotton growing in Egypt.
Puns aside, I don't see the Egyptian government allowing that for a second. They are ruthless with the Muslim Brotherhood.
Egypt is too important a country to the world to start getting a radical virus...100 million peeps there, ya know, this ain't Iraq or Jordan or even Iran.

4. Al Qaeda's #2 comes from Egypt, if you didn't know.
This isn't any big thing - that particular group hasn't done much in years. Calling it a great faction is a bit much.

5. Is that kind of like when Sears bought KMart?
Egyption terrorist group will continue to go by the same name, but still be owned by Al Qaeda.

6. Given number two was the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood
the question to be asked is... is this official or what took them so long?

Oh boy... there are days...

7. So are we going to declare war on Egypt or what?
Iraq didn't even have Al Qaeda, so what now?

W is going to recruit the young republicans for a new battle? Oops, the young republicans just disbanded.

8. We will have to give them a lot of money for a new crackdown

The more I have been reading about the Middle East this is something that always comes up. To keep pro-American leaders in power is very expensive for America. And it seems like the tighter the crackdowns, the more anti-American groups keep springing up, and we have to pay for another even tighter crackdown, and it just goes in a cycle!

9. But....but....we KILLED "#2"..........
Oh yeah, that's right. Every time we kill "Al-Qaeda's #2 leader" there are about 30,000 people ready to pick up where he left off.

Hmmm...maybe fighting terrorists isn't like fighting a regular army...
