Saudis to sue Israel over $14 billion Lebanon invesments
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=e182ae616b19137e

Saudi businessmen are contemplating a lawsuit against Israel for damages over their $14 billion of investments in Lebanon.

The suit would likely be brought in the International Court of Justice at The Hague.

Saudi real estate holdings are estimated at $10 billion. Investments in tourism, Lebanon's major industry, and other areas total $4 billion, according to the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

A number of UAE companies, including Dubai-based construction giant Damac, have also bought into Lebanon in the real estate sector.

Fahd Al-Hammadi, a member of the Saudi-Lebanese Committee, said the committee would review their losses in Lebanon with the help of the Beirut government.

1. W didn't go after the Saudis for 9/11

In fact he helped the Bin Ladin family fly out after 9/11 when airlines were frozen. I suggest you sue W.

He's also had the polygamous Saudi prince at his Texas ranch many times since 9/11.

2. Not sure there is legal standing for what amounts to a civil suit
against a government the Saudi's refuse to recognize.

4. With Saudi oil running out
Their usefulness will run out. W, and the GOP, will pay as much attention as they do to Haiti or the Sudan.

6. Again, looking for jurisdiction
Does the world court accept cases from private individuals? Does sovereign immunity block private legal action? I really don't know.

I do recall suits over terrorist incidents being recognized in US courts and assets being tied up, but I have a hard time seeing this being filed in an Israeli court and getting Gov assets impounded.

10. I ain't no lawyer and...
and you ask valid questions. Jurisdiction is one thing, precedence is another. Methinks the International Court will decide the merits.

He's already screwing over the Israelis and the Lebanese (just alot of pro-war Israelis don't realize how they are being used yet).

I'm positive that the Saudis will get their money, even if it has to come from American taxpayers directly.
