I just saw Syriana
For a movie that's so confusing, it makes a whole lot of sense!

Anyone who hasn't seen it, I suggest you do.

Whoa ... I'm still in shock and I consider myself to be pretty informed but nothing can brace you for how things transpire and how we are culpable for a lot of shit that goes down. Nothing can brace you for what you already know in the back in your mind. It's like a mack truck.

2. left me breathless as well
a contrast of lives. a study of insanity, betrayal, greed, corruption mixed with a love of country. and in all the chaos, the goat herders. a genius film, difficult to describe. unforgettable.

3. It was pritty good but...
I have to say I wasn't as blown away as you where. I guess I had already made the connections in my mind before the movie.

It was a fairly good film though and I would recomend seeing it.

5. I have too ... but like I said ...
When you see it played out before you (or at least me), it was still such a shock. It riled my emotions (guess it was supposed to do that).

It is a genius film. What can we do about the situation? Why can't we encourage reform and limit corruption (within our own country first)?

8. Oh boy ...
Business and political manipulations emanating from the US in the Persian Gulf and religious manipulations emanating from the Islamic schools and an Arab reformist stuck in the middle.

Two worlds collide. Someone pays the price.

(all said with a deep deep trailer voice)

6. It is very true and fits all that I know of the situation - and I hate the
situation that oil corporation hired managers have succeeded in getting us into ever since Ike was persuaded to save the free world oil supply by killing democracy in Iran and chose to install the Shah because the oil companies told him it was good for national security.

Ike was so damn proud of that move in his letters it makes one need to puke.

The chances for that part of the world to live in peace and for people to prosper all eliminated so that wealthy fat cats can get fucking richer.

11. Loved that movie
Must admit, had to watch it twice in order to completely tie up the loose ends
I had in my mind but it was wonderful movie. Kudos to Clooney, he really tries to open people's eyes to the what's going on in this very, very corrupt world.

16. Thanks
I intend to watch it again - it's just such a truly great piece of work. You know, I didn't even realize Matt Damon was in the movie but thought he did an exceptional job. Want to say more but don't want to spoil it for people who
haven't seen the movie.

14. watched it today!
what struck me about it was the dinosaur with a pea sized brain aspect of it all - all that tech and skill and money and power and even courage etc yet - so fukking impressive, but we have peewee herman type giggler in the WH... we truly are 'sheep w/out a shepherd' or something...for instance, those people in car #4 who were killed, what possible benefit does anyone get outta it? The same logic is behind a pair of smelly goofs mugging an old lady for her purse, and a couple hours later the goofs are flat broke, old lady is forever destroyed, and society is so much poorer (though the law'n'order crowd eagerly exploit both old lady and her smelly goofs to feather their nests -maybe it's for the hypocrites that the world was created all along!)
seriously, maybe the hypocrites are the ones with the right idea.....

19. Thanks for bringing this up, cool.
I remember thinking when this movie came out a while back, I thought, "wow, this movie I need to go see". There were a lot of threads, shaken people, astonished. There were so many good reviews of the film.

But I forgot -- until now. Is it out in the video shops now?

But my friend brought over Syriana.

Which was fine by me.

A couple of hours later and my mind was blown to bits. I'm still recovering.

but I did meet one of the casting directors. She is French and lives in Dubai.

Need to put it on my Netflix queue one of these days.

24. The plot was all too believable
and truly disgusting on a moral level.
Just as Spy Game was - I came away from both films wanting to bathe in scalding water.
