School Funding in the *W* Age
original

this is the 3rd or 4th year that the grange in a neighboring community has done this to raise money for local schools and other projects which used to be publicly funded until oregon ran out of money. and of course there are still those voices that cry this is is obscene and unfit for children to see. i tend to agree with the obscene part, but not because it has anything to do with naked farmers.

2. Texas schools are fully funded via the Lottery
Edited on Sat Aug-05-06 03:34 PM by Ezlivin
When they rolled out the lottery here in Texas, a stiff opposition was raised by religious and anti-gambling groups. The one thing that sold most people on the lottery was that the proceeds would benefit our schools.

Now that Lottery has been going for over a decade, we can see how these additional funds have aided the Texas school system.

"Texas jumped two spots - improving from 41st in 2004 to 39th in 2005 - in a ranking of state public education, but it still lags behind much of the country, according to a report released last week by a group of lawmakers." Source

Wow. What a difference that funding has made.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

3. As in most states w/lotteries, it was sold as "school fundung"...
Then the put in the school fund, but take out an equal amount from general revenue. The amount spent on schools stays flat, AND the state Govenment gets a big fat Lottery Commission with cantracts & patronage jobs for any & all.

4. what we got here in Florida
the chance to get tickets to a farking ballgame, rays against whoever, if you donate school supplies, we got a chance to give the teachers supplies, cause we don't have the money to get them out of the budget,(try to do that anonomously(?), meanwhile our school superintendent wants to get extended at 210,000 a year after promoting 50 million dollars in budget cuts. The lottery has been berry, berry good for florida schools, just ask jebthro. He has 300 million he wants to give to un-named corporations to move here, including one named one, Home freaking Depot.
