Just Puttin' This Question Out There: What Prompts You To Recommend Or
Edited on Sat Aug-05-06 10:57 AM by Dinger
reply to a post? As for me, if it's something I feel strongly about, I'll recommend it. I'll reply to it if I want to let the poster know what I think about their topic, or I just want to put my two cents in there. Also, I think there are people who "dirty up a" a thread for their own reasons. For me, that'd never be anything I do. Lowlifes do that. There are times, however, as many of you well know, where I post too quickly, with not enough thought put into it ahead of time.

1. Info about the latest fascist 'legislation'.
Threads that show a lot of research that needs to be common knowledge.
A good example of that is:

Basically anything that could help bring bushco down, or that encourages us to keep trying.

2. If it's something that I've not heard before, or something that I think
more folks need to know about. I try to stay out of the "controversy of the week" like Mel Gibson, too.

4. Same
I generally reccommend when its something not well known but I think should be, often environmental or local affairs, occasionally Congressional or US Government issues, very rarely Middle Eastern or "War on Terror" stories/ideas, and if it hasn't already been reccommended too much (is my 21st or 30th vote really going to make a difference?).

As for replying to a post... when I feel like it. Which isn't too often as is demonstrated by my low post number (I've been here since 2002).

3. Evidently not posts like this one, Dinger.
You really pulled them out of the woodwork with this one, didn't you?

I reply for the same reasons you have stated.
However, I am more likely to reply to posts from DUers who I "know" and respect.
I do like to mix it up, tho, especially when the OP obviously doesn't know anything about what they are posting and just letting it fly.

Alcohol can, at times, be a large factor.

I hope you get some more intelligent takes than mine on this thread. I just woke up.

6. Nobody here "really" knows the other members here
unless they 'know' each other in 'real' life.
Maybe that's a half a percent of the members here?

I add comments where I want to 'pipe in', clarify,
ask a question, annoy an annoying poster sometimes,,
add a pic or just add additional relevant iformation.
That's why it's called a messageboard! ;)
I don't ignore or favor older posters over newer one's either.
Just because they're new here, doesn't mean they're new to politics!
Nor does it mean they're younger or less informed.

Be careful! You might 'learn' something!! :sarcasm:

  Here! Have a :donut: :) :hi:

5. Sometimes the Author
needs support. Other times the subject needs support- especially ones that reveal dubco and the crime family.
So many of the younger posters only know what the revisionists are pushing.

7. I recommend when I think the information is important
and needs to be seen by more people. Due to the time differences where the posters reside, sometimes important stuff gets lost if it's not kicked and recommended.

I'll reply to a post if I think I have information or a comment to enhance a post. Sometimes that may be only a sarcastic remark.
