New primaries for Texas in November (Court redistricting)

Texas Redistricting

On 4 August 2006, a three judge U.S. District Court panel redrew 5 Texas Congressional Districts: 15, 21, 23, 25, and 28. The U.S. Supreme Court remanded the map to the panel to redraw CD 23 after the Supreme Court declared the districting unconstitutional.

This action invalidates the results of the 7 March primary in those districts. Candidates in those distiricts will now run in a non-partisan primary on 7 November. If no candidate receives 50% of the vote, a run-off will be held in December. The filing deadline for the non-partisan primary is 25 August 2006.
