Why can there be no mention of the USS Liberty incident in GD?
This is just unreal. Real American servicemen died during that incident and it gets deleted every time it's mentioned. I'm sure this will be. I can't believe the censorship that is going on here. I am shocked, really.

Yet through extrapolation the mods seem to think that it does.

20. I am not going to explain why we cannot have have a discussion....
...of the matter here at DU that is question for the moderators to answer. However, I think the DoD is withholding discussions from the general public because reasons that I can only think that it has something to do with the relationship we have with the Israeli government and the IDF.

...pertinent to the Israel/Lebanon conflict today. I don't think it's necessarily pertinent, either, however it would be nice to be able to discuss it in its historical context. I guess now's not a good time to fan anti-Israeli sentiment by talking about that long-ago war crime committed by Israel.

23. Shit, I didn't even mention it. It was mentioned in a sub thread.
On one of my posts, it seemed like "The Liberty Incident" had been targeted for deletion like it has been picked out specifically. And if it was deleted per the "new" rules I like to know how that incident pertains to the current crisis.

I think that's why they don't want to "fan the flames" of anti-Israel posts by permitting discussion of the Liberty attack.
