Not through watching V for Vendetta yet, and know it's old news

I remember in the seventies, while in high school, there were a few lonely voices in the wilderness who were worried, not just concerned, about the power that computers would plan in our lives in the near future, and what could be done with that power.

Well. Here we are. On the cusp of a wave. On the brink of a new tomorrow.

A wave of fascism and a tomorrow filled with....well, you know what it's filled with.

It's only a movie, but art imitates life in the damndest ways, doesn't it?

Every one should see this movie. More than once. And I'm only halfway through watching it.

I don't care how it ends. It is, after all, only a movie.

How does real life end?

6. We finally watched it the other night.

I liked it. I kept wishing I could somehow afford to send out masks...just not sure masks of who would resonate with Americans the way the Guy Fawkes mask was used to resonate with our counterparts across the pond.

At the very least, just once I'd like our side to hack into the major networks' video feed and blast our own message(s) to "We, the People". Maybe put a crawl at the bottom of the screen during a * speech - the real world translation.

Aw, well...

I think you'll like the ending.

8. I have a question for anyone..

... how bad is the violence. I don't let all my kids watch all R movies. Some I will but not if the violence is too graphic or sadistic or offensive.

I'd like to get an idea so I'll know if I can let all my kids watch it or if I have to watch it myself first. My kids are early teen boys.

than what I've seen portrayed on numerous regular tv shows who use it to get ratings (CSI, etc)

Now, I'm off to see the second half, and don't know what that may bring, but feel that the ideas behind any violence portrayed may just this once be justified.

If your boys are in their early teens, they've probably seen worse in video games by now. The main masked character uses daggers, and some buildings blow up. Is V rated R? I hardly pay attention any more.

Second, I have a low tolerance for watching violence

There are some scenes during which I winced at the shooting blood and slashing of important body parts. The scenes were fairly short and didn't dwell on spurting blood. As previously noted, I'm a lightweight.

If you're not sure, maybe you could watch without kids first then watch with them later if you think it's okay for them. As noted, I am not a parent, but I did a lot of "mom" time with my baby sister who's 14 years younger than I and it made me a little cautious about what I expose younger people to.

There is quite a bit of blood at some parts but it isn't really realistic. I'm 18 years old and I saw it with my brother who is 14. I'm not into really gory movies and I didn't find myself hiding my eyes at all. I wouldn't let young kids see it but I don't think it's too bad for teens. You might want to watch it first though.

Seriously- if you like the movie- you will LOVE the comic.

The comic is much more human-better character development and the politics are more timeless and subtle. It's not kiddie stuff at all- very political,psychological & sexual.

There is a reason the author called the movie "imbecellic" and had his name removed- it hits you over the head with the concepts rather than letting the viewer figure things out on their own...

Cool movie- and I'm glad they made it- but read the comic- you will be an Alan Moore fan for life if you do.
