Did Israel flatten this village or not?

27 July 2006, -- "Israeli Justice Minister Haim Ramon “said that in order to prevent casualties among Israeli soldiers battling Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon, villages should be flattened by the Israeli air force before ground troops moved in." Israeli Strikes Reportedly Bury Dozens

Israeli airstrikes flattened two southern Lebanese houses Friday and more than 50 people were buried in the rubble, security officials and the state news agency said. Israel denied attacking the villages.

The number of dead was not immediately known.

One attack flattened a building in Aita al-Shaab, a mile inside Lebanon, Lebanon's National News Agency reported. A large number of civilians were inside at the time, but the exact number was unknown, it said.

Lebanese security officials said the number of occupants was around 50, and that they were still buried in the rubble there.

Israel Denies Attacking 2 South Lebanon Villages Friday

BEIRUT (AP)--Israel denied it launched airstrikes on two villages in south Lebanon on Friday that flattened two houses, and reportedly buried 57 people in the rubble.

Lebanon's National News Agency reported Israeli airstrikes flattened a building in Aita al-Shaab, 2 kilometers inside Lebanon. A large number of civilians were inside at the time, but the exact number was unknown, it said.

It also said warplanes also hit Taibeh, about 5 kilometers from the Israeli border, destroying a house where 17 people had taken refuge.

But Israeli army spokesman Capt. Jacob Dallal said the Israeli air force had not hit the two areas.

"The air force had no targets in those villages," he said.

They didn't hit Qana either but, but but that spin flopped. What the fugg is wrong with those madmen -67 more dead Lebanese.
"...in order to prevent casualties among Israeli soldiers battling Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon, villages should be flattened by the Israeli air force before ground troops moved in."

Only their lives matter. This is beyond sick -it's pathological.

12. they were packing plums and peaches on a farm
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 06:14 PM by slaveplanet
CBS just showed 24 dead bodies, said 4 Israeli missles came out of nowhere.

Apparently Israel has taken to bombing peasants and shepherds in the open fields now.

And just imagine, if they can have death counts so high in open fields against viscious fruit pickers, how high is the unrecovered death toll in the rubble of the densely populated cities?

http://today.reuters.co.uk/news/articlenews.aspx?type=worldNews&storyid=2006-08-04T132335Z_01_L04814952_RTRUKOC_0_UK-MIDEAST-LEBANON-STRIKE.xml&src=rss

CHTOURA, Lebanon (Reuters) - At least 25 farm workers, including many Kurds and Syrians, were killed on Friday when Israeli aircraft bombarded trucks being loaded with fruits at a farm on Lebanon's border with Syria, security sources said.

They said the farm was near the village of Qaa in the northern tip of the eastern Bekaa Valley. Aircraft fired at least three rockets at the trucks which were being loaded with peaches and plums.

The dead and about 15 wounded were being evacuated to hospitals in Syria, they said.

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/08/04/ap/world/mainD8J9S2H80.shtml

Emergencies services at the al-Qusair National Hospital on the Lebanese-Syrian border and the National Hospital in the Syrian city of Homs said at least 28 people were killed in the farm attack near al-Qaa, a town about six miles from a Hezbollah stronghold.

Ali Yaghi, a Lebanese civil defense official at the scene, said at least 12 workers were wounded and some were likely buried under rubble.

Syria's official news agency reported that 33 were killed, 23 of them Syrians. That toll included 18 men, 2 elderly women and 3 young girls, it said, reporting 10 wounded.

The Israeli army said it had attacked two buildings where it suspected weapons were being stored, and it was checking reports that it had hit a vegetable storehouse and civilians.

14. I heard it on MSNBC this morning, about 8:00 AM EST
However, the TV has been on all day to MSNBC so I could hear more details. It hasn't been mentioned again, it's now 6:45 EST. They said it was 57 people buried under rubble in a Lebanese village. Imus is on vacation, so I turned it on.

15. Even the first article you posted says Israel didn't do it.
It is very possible that it wasn't Israel or there is a glitch in the reporting, which happens in times like this.

17. that's a strange interpretation
of, 'Israeli airstrikes flattened two southern Lebanese houses Friday'

The reports were not independently verified and denied by the Israelis. Hence, the question: "Did Israel . . .?

23. The forgotten story of today
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 06:27 PM by slaveplanet
I didn't hear mention of this on the CBS evening news broadcast, but it is online.

On the second front of its offensive against Islamic militants, Israel began pulling tanks out of southern Gaza after a two-day incursion that killed eleven Palestinians, including an 8-year-old boy.

The fighting in Gaza, which began June 25 after Hamas-linked militants captured an Israeli soldier in a cross-border raid, has killed a total of 175 Palestinians, the U.N. reported, adding that it was concerned that "with international attention focusing on Lebanon, the tragedy in Gaza is being forgotten."
