1. Now it all makes sense that lieberman is calling for.........
rumsfelds resignation. He knows he will need a job.

2. That would actually be a stunning move for the GOP...
They would show the swing voters that they are truly bi-partisan....

Only thing wrong with that scenerio for Bushco is that in congressional elections, mid-term elections to be precise, the swing voters are usually busy doing something else beside voting...

So a move such as this might energize the base....

But I doubt it would bring the votes they expect in November...

3. Maybe Lieberman can be Katherine Harris' campaign manager
That would be a funny SNL skit.

5. Or, the * crime family leaves him hanging out to dry. use him for
cover and then discard him when he is no longer of use.

I don't think Rummy is going anywhere. Poppy tried to remove him. Rummy knows all the dirt.

7. Nope, only reason they'd appoint him is to gain a senate seat.
The governor is a republican, he gets to appoint Lieberman's succesor. One of the most attractive things, from the republican standpoint, about appointing lieberman secdef is it lets them pick up a senate seat.

8. Rumsfeld is as made as Cheney-- he won't go until...
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 03:41 PM by mike_c
...he decides to go. Certainly Bush would never have the wherewithal to fire him. Rove might have tried to marginalize him if the do-do was this deep in August of 2004-- and I think Rove would have failed, maybe even turned up floating in the Potomac-- but with no reelection to worry about, Bush won't be firing any of his insiders.
