Ken Lay in Switzerland?
A friend of mine that is in the military told me and some friends the other day that his team had a briefing on Ken Lay and that he was moved to Switzerland with the help of the military. I don't know if it's true or not but my friend has been in the miltary over twenty years and he would not lie about such a thing. What do you think?

6. He'll have company soon...
Katherine Harris (to keep her quiet about 2000);
Jeff Skilling (because he knows what REALLY happened in Cali);
Jack Abramoff (because he's got the dirt);
The rest of the War Criminals (I mean Bush Administration, sorry, a freudian slip there)

20. Huh?
Its more plausible that the military assisted Lay's relocation and is now briefing select personnel not involved in the actual "escape" about it than a man in his 60's under tremendous stress having a heart attack?

18. I have a friend in the Air Force who swore that TWA 800 was shot down
He said he was briefed about it with some others. That a missile had been launched by a Navy ship accidently.

He wasn't happy when I didn't let the tall tale go on by asking why the AF would brief a non-com security officer who was about to ship out to Minot about this? Or why he ignored the supposed strict orders to keep it quiet by sharing it with us.

Some people like their tall tales but the military and fishing seem to bring out the most.

Did you read what I just wrote.

I have a friend who wanted to look like a big shot and in the know. So he fed us a story that was probably scuttle butt.

And as far as witnesses etc. I see nothing here that convinces me as the stories just don;t seem right. Much like my buddy who crammed in enough details to make it plausible.

it's as plausible as some of the other fanciful conspiracies which have less credibility than the "official" story of flight 800. then we have the flight in november of 2001 which exploded soon after takeoff from jfk.
no causes were ever found except some story about a spark in thefuel tank which no one believes.

And why would the military be used to move him? Wouldn't a disguise, a fake ID, and a plane ticket be more discreet than involving a bunch of military personnel?

I'm not saying that there isn't anything suspicious about the timing of Lay's death, just that this particular story doesn't sound plausible to me.

40. Switzerland would have been my guess as to where he'd go.
That's Enron's new home country too I think. UBS Enron??????????

Can UBS Tame Enron's Wild Traders?

That's the key question facing the Swiss bank as it prepares to take over the Texas company's energy-trading business

snip...

"SMOOTHING ELEMENT." UBS officials insist that they have no rosy delusions about the investment. That's partly because they had been researching the energy-trading business for more than a year as a way of diversifying the bank's trading income. "Earnings in the energy-trading business do not depend on developments in the capital markets, so they could work as a smoothing element," says UBS President Peter A. Wuffli.

That's in fact what motivated UBS to send a small team down to Houston when Enron put the business up for sale after the bankruptcy filing. Even after federal antitrust authorities give the final go-ahead, the Swiss bank says it plans to take things slowly. "We don't know how quickly this is going to start up," says UBS CEO John Costas. "We'd be happy in the first year if this business is half as big as it had been historically."

Still, anything associated with Enron is arguably fraught with risk at any price. "It's not clear how successful UBS is going to be," says Jeff Dietert, an analyst at investment bank Simmons & Co. in Houston. "And I think UBS knows that. That's why it wasn't willing to pay anything up front."

Some industry insiders doubt that Enron's traders will prove to be exceptional under the new rules. But UBS isn't about to change its own way of doing business. "Entering into energy trading does not mean extending our appetite for risk," says Wuffli. Swiss family Enron? Don't bet the chalet on it. MORE...

UBS

snip...

UBS was formed through a merger of the Union Bank of Switzerland and the Swiss Bank Corporation in June 1998. The first chairman of the merged bank had to step back in October 1998 due to the Long-Term Capital Management crisis, which affected the Union Bank of Switzerland. UBS is no longer an acronym but is the company's brand, like 3M or BP. In 2000 it acquired PaineWebber Group Inc. to become the world's largest wealth management firm for private clients. Invested assets in all wealth management businesses, including the U.S., total CHF 2.766 trillion.

UBS is present in all major financial centers worldwide, with offices in 50 countries. According to the UBS website, the bank had 70,210 employees on March 31, 2006. The 2006 Q1 report breaks these Financial Business permanent staff down by region as: 25,645 in Switzerland, 27,356 in the Americas, in 11,341 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (not including Switzerland), and 5,868 in Asia and Australasia. 71. Not so much anymore. Caymans, Isle of Man, there are more secure banking

82. No, I don't make shit up.
I don't know if I should believe my friend but like I said, he's been in the military over 20 years. I didn't question him, we all just laughed and I asked him if he was supposed to tell us that and he said no. And we all just dropped it. :shrug:
