Asian suicide bombers dispatched to attack Jewish interests
CANBERRA, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- More than 200 Southeast Asian suicide bombers have been dispatched around the world with a mission to attack Jewish interests in countries that support Israel, one of the leading Australian newspapers quoted a radical Jakarta-based organization as saying Friday.

These countries include Britain, the United States and possibly Australia, said the daily The Australian.

The newspaper said Asian Muslim Youth Movement (AMYM), a radical Jakarta-based organization, gave it details of the plot Thursday.

The AMYM claimed it was being funded in part with cash donations from two unnamed Australian-Indonesian businessmen.

Suaib Bidu, leader of the organization, warned that thousands more jihadis were preparing to join the resistance against Israel and die as "martyrs."

4. What can I say? The US enables war crimes in Lebanon
while committing its own share of them in Iraq and Afghanistan. How can we not expect blowback?

We need to stop this insanity of Bush, Blair, and Olmert!

Stop the bombing! Immediate ceasefire! Prisoner swap!

5. The threat
isn't to American interests. It's specifically to Jewish interests. It's simply using Israel and America as an excuse to make threats against Jews. Call it blowback, call it whatever else you want, it's really simple hate.

Guess we've known it was a matter of when, not if.
Hope people take a lesson from Katrina and
stock up on supplies because I don't think
our government gives a damn about us.

They knew all along that their actions in the ME would
create blowback-
They simply don't care how many civilians die,
not in the ME and not here at home.

Damn the power mad neocon KKKabal to HELL!

20. So you believe it's not a matter of
security, or of politics: it's Crusaders in the Middle East, and Jews, versus Muslims.

Because that's the uniting factor here: Religion. That's one of the memes perennially dismissed.

I think for militants on the Muslim side it's true; that's the perception. But it's very non-PC to say it.

24. Lebanese Christians have turned against US and Israel
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 06:36 PM by IndianaGreen
Israel bombed Christian positions today in Lebanon, and she merely created enemies among the Lebanese Christians. Israel is as much a great uniter as Bush is.

It is not a religious thing, for progressive Jews in Israel have demonstrated against Olmert's war.

Israel's war crimes in Lebanon, her genocide, cannot be condoned by peace loving peoples across the world. Even the Pope has called for Israel to stop the slaughter of the Lebanese.

It is not a religious thing, it is a war crimes thing!

6. No worries here.
It's a good thing we have spent the last five years creating the finest border security in the world. Just chillin' in the US, I hope those other countries are on THERE toes.

Speaking of which, would someone forward this to the CIA, please? Just in case.

9. Don't fool yourself. Nobody's really tried anything, yet..
If this keeps up, something will happen. There's no better terrorist recruiting grounds than refugee camps. And, the Olmert regime, with Bush's backing, is creating hundreds of thousands of new refugees in Lebanon.

That's bound to blow-back.

The best counter-terrorism policy is to prevent the conditions that create terrorists. Bush-Cheney already failed on their watch. Now, they're producing a sequel to 9/11.

8. That story cites The Australian, Murdoch's flagship newspaper.
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 11:37 AM by leveymg
Here's what a Murdoch critic down under says: http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:WgZ9FqA7Im4J:www.overlandexpress.org/australian.html+The+Australian+Murdoch&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=1

In Australia, one newspaper now stands out for its hawkish tone. The Australian is the loudest and most persistent in calling for an invasion of Iraq. It never tires of reminding its readers that Saddam Hussein used chemical weapons (sing along) “against his own people”. It is worth reviewing how The Australian covered the atrocities when they actually occurred. Quantitative aspects of the coverage are revealing; today’s profusion is in marked contrast to the paucity of coverage during the 1980s. However, this article focuses on the qualitative aspects: how reports were packaged, what was stressed and what was de-emphasised, and the nature of visual coverage.

Murdoch: Terra. Terra. Terra.

However, I am concerned about what the hawkish neocons might do to create more backing for their very unpopular invasions in the M.E........ie. a terra attack.

But, the source doesn't get a 4 for trustworthiness. Needs corroboration.

21. As the Reuters article says.....

Hardline militant groups in Indonesia have made claims in the past of sending volunteers to participate in conflicts overseas which have sometimes proved exaggerated.

Din Syamsuddin, chairman of the moderate Muhammadiyah, Indonesia's second largest Muslim organisation, said threats by radical Muslim groups to fight Israel were just "symbolic gestures".

10. So nice of them to provide the time and place the jihadis will gather.

He said a "passing-out" ceremony for more than 3,000 jihadis would be held Saturday in the Indonesian city of Pontianak on the large northern island of Kalimantan.

19. Commentary from experts in Australia:
The Australian Federal Police say they have no information to support claims that a radical group in Indonesia has sent hundreds of suicide bombers to countries that appear to sympathise with Israel in its war against Hezbollah.
...
An expert on radical Islam, Doctor Zachary Abuza from the Simmons College in Boston, says the threat should be taken seriously.

"They have some potential to hit the West, but they would have to be received and brought into pre-existing cells before I think they really had an operational capability to hurt any of the Western countries."
...
But counter-terrorism expert Clive Williams, from the Australian National University, says the latest threat lacks credibility.

Former senior government adviser on security and counter terrorism, Allan Behm, agrees.

"I don't really think it's a credible threat. It would seem to me that there's a high measure of braggadocio here, that evidently the developments in the Middle East would certainly have stimulated a measure of concern and indeed anger on the part of young Muslims throughout South East Asia."
