France and US lock horns on Lebanon
THE US and French ambassadors at the United Nations remained locked in talks Friday over the wording of a Security Council resolution on halting the fighting in Lebanon, a diplomat said.

"The French and the Americans are meeting now, they met late last night," said the diplomat. The two sides "are trying to work out a solution."

(snip)
France has proposed a resolution calling for a "cessation of hostilities".

According to diplomats, the United States would rather use a broader term.

3. Why do the French even bother with the US?
The Bush criminal regime wants no ceasefire and will only accept a UN resolution that totally enforces Israeli aims. It's a waste of time.

6. Because they helped create it, the US
The US is almost like a child to the French. They take a personal interest in what the child, now turned into a real rotten brat, is up to.

4. Lock horns...
Both have been useless and the only difference is that the US supports Israel and France sorta supports Israel. The US will veto it even if they agree to the wording and France is just going through the motions to look 'concerned' for it's own domestic politics.

5. what are the chances of Bolten changing his mind?
And, if objects to "cessation of hostilities" what broader term does he want?
