Rapture Ready folks don't stand with Robertson on global warming
I guess they'll be kicking him out of the club soon.

The first two posters wander off the ranch slightly and are quickly put in their place. Here's some choice comments:

Global Warming is just another tentacle of Mystery Babylon...the urgent need for man to save himself and this planet. It is rebellion against God's Word. When the first tower of Babel was made it was done so after the flood. The people said they needed to build it in order not to be scattered abroad on the earth. The Hebrew for scattered can also mean "carried away by flood". God told them to multiply and seed the earth. They rebelled and decided to save themselves from any future judgment.

Today's cry of Global Warming and the need to do something about it is just the same old idea from Babylon. Don't buy into it, it's a sham and an unproven theory. At its core it antichrist because it goes against what God has declared what will happen to this planet and man cannot stop it.

I have lived in the same city in the south for almost 50 years. It use to get hotter 30 years ago than it does now. We use to get 3 weeks of 100+ heat back then. We barely get but a few days of it now each year. The ozone layer has actually improved over the last 10 years. Noone has even come close to proving this stuff is true, in fact most legit scientist will say it is all bogus. Many blasted Gore on his little acting deal this year, calling his facts erroneous. We do not even have as many tornadoes here anymore. I just do not buy into it and I have studied weather and biology in college.

Global warming is a bunch of crock. On the weather channel just yesterday they were talking about how in the 30's it used to be this hot. We are on some sort of cycle and it is quite normal every so many years. It used to get this hot and we are in the same cycle as back then. Global warming is a myth that the left uses to make us look bad to the rest of the world because we consume the largest amount of energy than other countries. It has never been proven and there is no scientific evidence for it.

1. Well they are entitled to their opinions
time will provide the answer to them, as it appears that science is out of the question.

2. The first tower of Babel? The core of global warming is the anti-christ?
Now, I remember my sunday school lessons and I don't remember a thing about a second or third tower of Babel. I remember the teacher telling us that it was built so the king at that time could get closer to heaven and god got pissed.

And the whole anti-christ is the core of global warming??? Geez, when will I quit being shocked by these people?

3. Here's the complete story. See if you get what he got from it

Genesis 11: (this is soon after the flood)

1 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2 As men moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there.

3 They said to each other, "Come, let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4 Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth."

5 But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. 6 The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other."

8 So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9 That is why it was called Babel —because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.

--------------------------

Reading it the way I'd read any old text, I'd say it sounds more like God was upset with people for building with bricks instead of stone, and building large rather than small. SOunds more like an argument for more natural building materials and less congested living patterns, if you ask me. God was warning about global warming back then! Pat has it right, and the Rapture folk have it wrong!

But I'm an atheist, so maybe I shouldn't interpret the Bible. I don't have all that preachering brainwashing, um, education to guide me.

6. Why are these people still here?
I thought yesterday was supposed to be their big day. Damn, I was really hoping.

I love this quote: "Sorry y'all, but Global Warming is a theory, a poor theory at that." Yeah right dipshit - gravity is also a "theory" but I see that your ass is safely tethered to the earth.

7. Well ol' Pat is not looking for the Rapture any time soon.
Robertson, CBN plan massive retail, housing project near I-64

CHESAPEAKE - A proposed interchange off Interstate 64 and backed by Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson may lead to some of the most high-end shopping in Hampton Roads.

When completed, the giant complex called Blenheim Park would add about $1 billion to the region, generate hundreds of millions in tax revenues for Chesapeake and Virginia Beach and provide $15 million to $20 million a year for CBN, according to its developers. Site plans and applications have not been filed in either city.

If the project's handlers can navigate Blenheim Park through these obstacles, the development w ould include two hotels, a movie theatre, a department store, a big-box store, and a combination of 1,000 single-family and multi-family homes. The project would embrace a style of design in which shops, stores and offices are integrated into a town concept.

For 30 years, Robertson and his Christian Broadcasting Network have acquired properties along Interstate 64 and near Regent University. Most of the purchases were completed in five or six large transactions, and smaller parcels were purchased to fill in along the way. Now CBN is transferring the land into a popular commodity: shopping centers.
