Charlie Rose has Oliver Stone on, with the new 9/11 movie. Who thinks
Oliver Stone might do a good job?

He claimed it's a lot more difficult to try to recreate history vs. having access
to living events. He might be the perfect person to do this.

1. I would be very much interested in seeing an Oliver Stone version
He pushed the edge with JFK regarding MIHOP, so why would he back down here?

3. I think his movies can suffer from 'prevailing wisdom', but that's
not happening. I forgot to mention Nicholas Cage is in it; I just don't like him, but hey! He grew up!

I was wondering if I was the only one to have a mild prejudice against that movie merely because Cage was in it :)?
But honestly, couldn't they get a good no-name actor....

Edit: I also think its a little too soon :-/ for 9/11 movies but thats just me...

2. My personal opinion is that bushco isn't nearly as smart
as they think they are.
However, with a complicit media and nobody to ask the tough questions, they have had a free ride thus far.
For all of us "conspiracy theorists" out here who have seen the bits and pieces of evidence that don't make sense that are explained away with substandard explanations or are ignored, it would be poetic justice to have an "outsider" get to the truth.
As a side note...if he digs too far, he might be warned away from small aircraft.

5. Nicholas Cage is a great actor! Oliver Stone a mediocre director.

I would have prefered to have a real director like Scorsese or Mallick direct a WTC film. Mallick would have gotten the visuals just right.

9. He's turning a terrorist attack into entertainment...
and you're asking why he's a prick? I wonder whether he'll donate the proceeds to the relief fund? I doubt it!

Some scumbags will turn a profit from anything!

10. Yes, I am asking you that, because I still don't see how that
makes him a prick. There's no need for you to get so hostile when all I did was ask you a question. I also don't see how this makes him a "scumbag," especially since Stone is a well-known Leftie who has given alot of money and screen time to certain issues and causes.

It appears Stone didn't make this film "entertaining." It appears he made a respectful movie of incidents that day. I see more than some of his profits from this movie will go into the coffers of organizations that we on DU would "approve" of.

I can totally understand some people no wanting to see it, but that doesn't translate into scumbag or prick to me, and I'm a judgemental little so-and-so.

13. Sorry
I wasn't trying to offend you.

I just hate people profiteering from other people's misery. Bailiffs, banks, governments, traffic wardens, actors/directors etc. I have no time for the lot of 'em; lefties or not.

I just don't think it needs to be made into a movie... yet. If he wanted to make a movie he could easily have remade Alice in Wonderland or something.

Oliver Stone's controversial film about the 9/11 terrorist attacks, World Trade Center, is to donate 10% of its opening weekend proceeds in the US to charities for victims of the disaster.
