It isn't Bush alone...the ENTIRE CONGRESS HAS FAILED AMERICA.
Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 11:33 PM by Atman
With a very short list of exceptions, every single member of Congress should be utterly ashamed of themselves and what they've presided over during their tenure in DC. Every single one. The democrats who didn't fight hard enough and the republicans who didn't care enough about the constitution to uphold their own oathes to defend her. Shame.

Shame shame shame. The current congress will (and should) go down in history as the group that gave away our country and sold our children and grandchildren (and their's, too, I fear) up the river.

For shame. I hope you're as disgusted to look at yourselves in the mirror as we are to have to look at you on the television. You all SUCK.

Oh...and really now...G'nite!

1. It's not just the executive and legislative branches that failed America.
The judicial branch and mainstrem media has failed also.

28. It's not just the executive and legislative branches that failed America,
but also the judicial branch, the mainstream media and all Americans who have continued to support/failed to dissent this Administration once it became abundantly clear that its fiscal, environmental, tax, foreign and pre-emptive wars policies were catastrophic to this nation and the suppression of freedom, the Bill of Rights unconstitutional and in violation of every principle of freedom and democracy.

2. Agreed, but the way our system of elections work hasn't changed a bit...

and until THAT changes, our corporate-owned Congresspersons will continue with bushiness as usual.

3. Sigh. I await swift changes after November, and we should hold
that thought. As far as the "very short list of exceptions", please list your choices. I have mine. :)

4. 2006 SLOGAN?:
"Are you tired of asking yourself, 'is that legal?'"

It's a little long- how can this be shortened?

Maybe, "Ask yourself, 'Is that legal?'"...

Hmm.

6. Yup, and they have the approval rating to show it.
I recently read (I think it was Zogby) that Congress has an 18% approval rating overall, that's lower than George Bush AND Dick Cheney combined!

7. Never seen a worse Congress
or worse President and I'm no spring chick. If the Founding Fathers came back to life and saw what was going on in the Government today there would be disgust, fear, anger and another Revolution.

9. I agree! They should all be ashamed of themselves!
Tonight,-this morning actually-it all feels like a torturous uphill battle. Sigh. Everyone was all excited around DU tonight that Congress didn't pass the estate tax/minimum wage bill, but all I could think about was how they DID pass the bankruptcy bill!!! For every so called good deed they do, there are 10 or more horrible ones! :argh:

This country is in total disarray...we desperately need someone or something to save it and us...but who or what?! :banghead:

12. disagree. it is ON the republicans shoulders. both wh and congress
the dems have fought hard on issues. and the ones with power shut them down. they were elected in. put the blame on wh, republican congress and the voters that voted them in. bullshit calling dems the one responsible when they have a power above their own.

14. The democrats, AS A PARTY, never put up a fight.
John Conyers did. Barbara made some good attempts. There have been some good renegades in the party that haven't been BushCo enablers. But I'm sorry, we had a chance to stop Alito, we had a chance to stop the bankruptcy bill, the Medicare scam, all of it. There were always enough "democrats" on board with Bush to let him destroy us. THE PARTY had no leadership which could get these people to see that they are just propping up the criminal cabal. They failed us. They failed America.

In fact, we could say the same thing about ourselves. We haven't voted FOR Bush's criminality, as have so many democrats. But, we still just sit and type and gasp in amazement. In a real freedom-loving democracy, the citizens would have demanded their government back by now, by force if necessary. America has done nothing, save maybe bitch-slapping Joe Lieberman. Then it's off to the mall in the SUV.

I agree with the addition of The Fourth Estate to the mix. But again, as the consumers of this shit, the American public has allowed it to happen. Congress enables Bush. We're enabling Congress.

The system has failed.

15. i can agree with your lower post
but i still put it on the republican powers that be. nsa hearings, dsm, 9/11 commission, voting..... all these things, all the hearings our dems are loud and vocal and we always like what they say only to have it ignored because republican have the power to end it.

the cameras for the last 6 years. Can we agree on that?

19. well let me see, anytime dean or kerry or other dems "scream"
into camera, if dem is lucky enough to be shown on camera, what does media do. ignore the issue being talked and trash the dem. at all cost.

then, we trash the dem on this sight.

if only it were so easy as the dem speaking out on camera. we have the top dudes of two networks out loud saying why they bash the dem and why they dont want them on tv. not entertaining enough. they don't throw the tantrums like the right

Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 11:55 AM by seabeyond
screamin and whining and dont have a plan as the dem hands over the plan, only for media to dismiss......

as far as i see it. this fall the repugs get voted out. then and only then the dems are held accountable. we go after the admn with hearings we can now push thru and no more republicans stopping it. and we go after the media for their irresponsibility. but has to be the will of the people getting the repugs out first before dems have ANY power and we can hold them responsible

your peace sign elehhhhna

i love. my 8 year old always like cartoon on his school shirt. but now the kids get teased with it. i couldnt figure out what he wanted to wear to school, but last week he made it clear. peace signs.... your sign is perfect, that is what caught my eye. and stuff like beatles and beach boy. this texas boy loves hippies. he wants to bring it back with all his conservative classmates. interesting and brave child

24. There's a quote about
What normal people need to do when confronted by tyranny.

We can bitch and we can moan, but the other alternative isn't pretty.

And to delay or perhaps stop dead that bloody alternative, we need to do things like a complete worker strike that lasts for weeks.

And no more meeting in the center of twown. Divide up - all protesters whose names are A to F meet at one media building (CBS say) All with names G - M at NBC. ETC

And stay the duration till the media gets it.
