1. I'd be interested to see how McCain takes it
Granted, McCain made a crack about Janet Reno being Chelsea Clinton's mother, so I would hope that if he can dish it out he can take it as well.

5. Of course he can take it. Bush in 2000 suggested that McCain
betrayed America. And look at the two of them now. Buddies.

4. McCain had much worse said about him by
the Rove machine and he still shines the bushknob every chance he gets. He lost his backbone long ago.

6. I Actually Have No Respect For That Comment.
I'd be a hypocrite if I did. Though I'm no McCain fan, he is a war hero in his own right and should not be slandered within the terms of his service any more than Kerry or Murtha should be. If I'm going to rightfully protest and take issue with the GOP fuckers using such petty undermining tactics against the heroes on our side, I should also damn well not stand up with respect and cheers when someone does it to their side.

8. the question was "who would you rather be in a foxhole with?"
"Nancy Pelosi or John McCain?"

Hackett said neither. Then the quote from the OP.

12. I have no respect for the question
What is the point of the question "Who would you rather be in a foxhole with?" Is it asking for a comment on who is braver? or who has more military experience? or who you would rather have "watching your back"? It's a stupid question. What are the bizarre series of events that would have to happen to find oneself in a foxhole with a member of congress? Is that how we are to judge politicians? Anyone want Dick Cheney in his foxhole?

14. I agree with you-- it's a despicable tactic...

...no matter who uses it. On the merits, anyone who flew combat missions, then endured capture and torture, can have my back in a foxhole whether he's infantry or not.

7. Personally, given the choice
between a foxhole and six years in the Hanoi Hilton, I'd take the foxhole every time.

The foxhole is bad, but McCain survived worse, IMHO.

11. It was typical inter-service jibing
He immediately then thanked the navy for "getting us there." This is Marine banter. It's playful.

13. I fully agree.
It sounds harmless and good natured to me.
