Lets get behind Swamp Rats idea of tea bags.
It's the perfect symbol to illustrate our 2006 revolt.

We've got the King. We've got the tyranny. We've got the outrage. We've even got the right name of the King who flatulates on America with the minions. Remind them of the last revolution. And the second one's coming!!!

It's cheap, it's perfect. Let's send the tea hither and yon. Envelopes with tea bags--I even like the idea of loose tea. Inundate Fox, CNN, RNC, Matthews, evey republican rat wagon smell hole you can think of.

We've got to overthrow the King again. Let's begin the unveiling of step 1...the 2006--- ain't gonna take it no more...

'06 Washington Tea Party !!!!!!

26. Yo soy un hombre sincero

De donde crecen las palmas
Yo soy un hombre sincero
De donde crecen las palmas
Y antes de morirme quiero
Echar mis versos del alma

Guantanamera
Guajira Guantanamera
Guantanamera
Guajira Guantanamera

Mi verso es de un verde claro
Y de un carmin encendido
Mi verso es de un verde claro
Y de un carmin encendido
Mi verso es un ciervo herido
Que busca en el monte amparo

112. Seen the REAL Spanish version of this?...
Gana Dinero by The Hashpipers

Chorus:
Gana dinero
Jorge Bush gana dinero
Gana dinero
Jorge Bush gana dinero

Bush es un hombre insincero
De una familia muy rica
Bush es un hombre insincero
De una familia muy rica
Antes de que usted vota quiero
Decirle que Bush ha vendido su alma

(chorus)

Mi verso es de un verde claro
Como el dinero de Bush
Mi verso es de un verde claro
Como el dinero de Bush
Pero mi verso es mas sincero
Que cualquier cosa el dice en espanol (o ingles)

106. delightful idea, but one problem: toxic waste
perhaps a symbolic voting machine, but the real ones will have to be taken apart and recycled... computers & monitors all contain some pretty nasty stuff... wouldn't want to pollute Boston Harbor more than it probably already is...

I like the tea bag idea better.

7. Yep I love it.
You can't have anything more important than a symbol that catches fire to express your outrage. Nothing could be better than this.

If this could get national, there could be signs everywhere with nothing but tea bags. Down with the King.

I'm getting addresses and I'm firing off some tea tomorrow. It could be as effective as the Lieberman kiss float. We need large numbers to adopt this.

All people want to do is find reasons not to do something, instead of doing something.

I'll do it myself then. At least I'll feel good about it.

19. I just found the unconditionally risk free solution for
all of those here who have some ambivalence about sending real tea, which is ridiculous because tea has an unmistakable aroma and a patented appearance in a teabag.

But if you don't want to do that, send photos of tea related content. It still sends the message.

If you're not willing to do even that, you just ain't angry enough yet. And I don't understand that at all.

What I think is really important is sending a unified slogan to supplement the tea bag. This would immediately explain our purpose and defuse any stupid assumptions.

It would be great to start hearing some ideal suggestions here.

We could determine it based on geography. Anything in the South is suspect of being Republican, so Lipton is probably out. Green Tea bought in California, maybe leftie. But to be really sure, maybe you should buy from Starbucks.

Edited on Thu Aug-03-06 10:10 PM by calipendence
Especially when it was used as the basis of the revolt that built our country. Will clearly state that this country wasn't built on corporate rule but AGAINST it! Take that corporate America, just like the East India Tea company did then!

We should soak them and then smear them on our fingers so that we get a tea stain on our fingers when we vote, to do an in-your-face on that manipulative blue finger Iraqi vote thing.

Maybe if we could get some real gummy and sticky tea brand, we could have it on our fingers and EVERYONE smear the touch screens *LIBERALLY* with it when we are forced to use touchscreen voting macines.

registered on this website instead of pleading to get even 100? We need to get serious numbers to adopt this symbolism all the way to November. There's supposed to be 90,000 support this damn place.

This mantra encompasses everything that could show our unity. The Patriots were united. That's why there was a harbor full of tea.

WE need serious tea all over.

You are right.... I suggested, in my puny way, we write letters to the editor and let them know. I have done this already....but one of the posts suggested getting corporations behind it. At opensecrets.org they have the type of corporations that are contributing to DNC and I am supposing they will have the most receptive response to this type of effort.

68. ALERT!!!! Do we need to send them to local offices because
every package that is sent to DC has to go through that stupid anthrax check and isdelayed delivery for a wek or two??????

We need to think about that!

I've gotten several notices that local mail goes directly to your Sen or Rep office, but not in DC!

78. OH I dont mean not do it! I love the idea!!! I whould hope there can
be enough people join in to really make BIG HEADLINES! I just see all those packages of tea bags getting delayed in the DC post office somewhere and not having the impact that we're looking for.

Perhapse the local office of each Rep and Sen isn't the best answer either because it would loose the impact of enormity, but opting to send them to a news agency isn't the right answer either.

70. A few of us are getting something together.
Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 01:05 AM by longship
If you are interested in participating please PM me.

We're going to do this the right way. It'll only work if we get millions of tea bags sent to the White House (or the RNC).

That's going to take some doing.

MrCoffee has things hogged out pretty well. We're going to take the planning of this off of DU but will be posting updates here.

Please PM me or MrCoffee if you are interested.

We need a good Web designer.

Edited on Fri Aug-04-06 01:48 PM by calipendence
Those of you who drink tea at work could rationalize using it for this purpose if you would normally drink tea, and say you drink water instead and use your tea you'd normally drink from them for other purposes. They certainly wouldn't notice whether you drink it or it goes in an envelope.

...you know, the little tags at the end of the string. I'd hate to see a nationwide freakout if some of the teabags broke open while in transit, and spilled out onto the recipients.

84. NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!
The majority of Americans have no representation:

The majority of Americans want:

the war to end
single payor health care
action on global warming
a balanced budget
no expansion of our nucleat program
no torture by America
free and fair elections
accountability for government spending
the truth about 9-11
answers abour how the Iraq war really started
Social security to be protected
Stem cell research

the list goes on and on.
Where are our representatives?

We the people have no representation, yet we have taxation of the average person that has increased in proportion to the mega-rich.
The first American revolution started because of these injustices. The second one must start now!

feel free to add to the list!

100. I'm sure 3rd world workers are enchanted as well
The entire tea supply chain is raptured by the tea incident, where a spike in US
demand sparked world war 4 when the tea plantations revolted and sparked a worldwide
revolution that ultimately ended in an agreement to drink coffee.

How do we know they're not just gonna drink the tea? It should be mixed with
sea salt or perhaps packed loose in loose cotton to symbollize the cotton subsidy,
and with some bat shit to symbollize war, then send it back to the congress, no tanks.

109. voting machines, not tea bags
make a statement-- throw voting machines in the water instead of teabags. dress up with those triangular hats and all, mark up some cardboard boxes to make them look like voting machines, and toss them in the bay, with your video cameras rolling. send me the clips and we'll put them up on a website for all to see.

110. The New Revolution has started!
Edited on Sat Aug-05-06 08:32 AM by lisainmilo

I was talking with a coworker last night and asked her for her support, she is neither Republican or Democrat....She votes for the person. Anyway, I asked for her support in this effort, knowing she does not like Bush at all. I think I can count on her support....but she also said,
" DEMOCRATS ARE WEAK!" She said, " They don't stand up and have allowed themselves to be labeled as not being patriotic" I was on my way into to work and she was ready to go, so she didn't go into a whole lot of detail. But, she has a point and we must all "quit the bitchin" and do something! That something has to be a joint effort.
This is a very inexpensive start to show we are one group! Are you with me on this? Please visit www.johnlisainmilo.com for details. There is an Email address on this page, you may email me to let me know. Please pass this message along.
